Hi All

We are leaving in September as well! Leave LHR on 16th September with Cathay Pacific, have 30 hours in HK (Disney Hotel - can't wait!) and arrive in Adelaide on 19th.

We are up for the Manchester meet up and can currently do 1st or 8th.

Hope to meet some of you soon - either here or in Adelaide.

Good luck everyone.

Hi Helen, Dave and Emily,

That would be great. Just waiting to see what everybody's availability is and then we can finalise one of the dates. Would be great to meet everybody and exchange our thoughts and hopefully calm each others nerves.

Hi!

We are already here but we arrived last September! It's a good time to come as it's not too hot when you have to run around like headless chickens sorting rental/school/work etc etc.

Good luck with everything - do you know where you are going to live yet?

Hi all.

We are leaving UK on 8th September from Heathrow on Singapore Airlines. We have got 5 nights in Singapore and we will arrive in Adelaide on 15th September. We have got two boys of 14 and 11. 3 of us are really excited and can't wait. My 11 year old is dreading it and doesn't want to go.

Any advice to help him would be fab.

We are staying in Port Noarlunga when we arrive.

Hi to you all,

Everyone sounds so excited about coming over here. I've lived here for the last 39 years originally from Birmingham. Only been back once in that time in 2006 for a holiday. You are all arriving in a good month, the weather should just be getting warm then. Where ever you are staying, I'm sure you will find it nice. And everyone with kids make sure you all go to our Christmas pageant this is something that can't be missed. It the official arrival of Father Christmas into the city of Adelaide. It's a big parade through the streets of Adelaide, with bands and floats of all different kinds, but make sure you get there early for a good spot, thousands of people get there. It's usually around early November, but well advertised so you won't miss it. Also the people who are going to Singapore make sure you go over to Sentosa Island, you can get there by cable car or mono-rail, and stay for the lazer light show, to good to miss. The zoo is another excellent place to visit, one of the best in the world. The oragatangs are free in the trees, so be careful where you are walking. Singapore Airport is excellent for doing any duty free shopping, an amazing airport.

Well good luck to you all and I'm sure you are all making the best move of your lives. I know my parents did all those years ago. Just hope you all survive our 40C in the summer.

Hi, we are moving to Adelaide in September as well. Unfortunately it will be Sept 2010. It seems a popular month though. Hopefully we will meet up with some fellow expats as well.

Incidently, how many of you are using the "Meet and Greet" service??

Hi

We have registered for the Meet & Greet Service. But apparently they do not let you know whether you have got this until 3 weeks before departure. From posts I have read, this is invaluable.

Good luck with your preparations.

Hi

We are flying out with Singapore Airlines 29th August 7 of us with 5 kids 2 boys 17 and 11 and 3 girls age 13, 8 and 8. We are staying with roo rentals for 2 weeks and hope to secure a rental. I quite like the idea of Hallett Cove but it will all depend where hubby gets a job.

Does anyone know if there is much work for sparkies in this area, or wher is the best place to look.

Many Thanks.

Hi Guys,

We are heading out in Sept too. Probably the 16th but yet to book the flights. We are staying over in Singapore. We are 45 and 44. Our kids are girl 17, boy 13, girl 3. It would be great to make some friends for them. We have no idea where we want to live and as yet have no jobs lined up - I think we may just be crazy ?! We live in York and would love to meet up with anyone not too far away. We have family in Chorley,Lancs so could meet there too. We only got our grant on 1/7 and haven't stopped smiling...so now we look crazy too - lol.

Hi

Just thought I'd drop you a quick note to say you'll be glad that you shipped your furniture early. We arrived early June and are waiting for ours to arrive and in hindsight we wished we'd shipped earlier because it was easier to live with not very much in the UK. Not complaining but thought it might keep you going.

Good luck with the move & everything.

Sam

Hi Guys,

Sounds like a great idea. Any chance of other dates though ?? We live in York and we are both at work on those Tuesdays.

We're flying out from LHR 16/9 but with Singapore Airlines. Stop over in Singapore and fly out to Adelaide 20/9.

Are you staying over near the airport the night before ?

Hi Caroline

We are not staying in a hotel near Heathrow - the journey starts in Manchester and have a few hours in Heathrow to kill. :dull:

There is a thread on here about a meet and greet in Manchester http://www.pomsinadelaide.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10575

You could post on there offering other dates. We are always up for a meet up and being honest, Sundays are probably better than Saturdays. Any sugestions?
