woodcroft or happy valley????

We have researched these two areas relentlesly but still can't decide between the two where to live. They are both lovely areas with good schools so I'm just trying to get as much extra information as possiblethat may tip the balance.. We have two girls primary school age who will be looking for dancing schools and music lessons and of course lots of friends!! .. Any thoughts, ideas, opinions, (good or bad) will be very much appreciated. Thank you

Well....... I would say 100% Happy Valley but thats because we live there, we love it. ha ha ha.

 

There is a great School on Education Road and its a combined Junior Primary and Primary School. The Head Kylie is always very approachable and is such a lovely lady. My daughter has made heaps of friends at the School, and is always very happy to go. She has also worked really well and her exams results prove that. The teachers are great and it has a great community feel to it. Last year work commenced on the New Building at the back of the School which is almost finnished ( hopefully during the Christmas Holidays). We also have our own Kitchen Garden Specialist starting this term, basically they children grow their own fruit and veg and also have cooking lessons in the brand new kitchens. I say Kitchens because there are 5 new ones for the children!!.

OK, now I'll muddy the waters for you again by telling you about Woodcroft!! We love it here so much we bought a house here again when we moved back from the UK (but that's another story in itself...) Woodcroft Primary is excellent, it's the largest primary in the state I think but you'd never know it, as like the school Suzie was talking about, it has a lovely "villagey" feel to it. Our daughter loves it there and we certainly have no complaints so far about her education.

 

The area itself is leafy and green. Older houses have larger gardens in general, newer houses tend to have smaller "courtyard" gardens. There's plenty of shops and it's easy to get to most places. I don't know of any dance classes locally although there is a ballet class in Morphett Vale.

 

Having said all that I also think Happy Valley is lovely and to be honest, I don't think you can go far wrong with either choice! Good luck with your decision!

I think your splitting hairs to find a difference.

 

Woodcroft is marginally more expensive but I think the pub and the shops are not the greatest for how nice the area is, Happy Vally is nice area with a good feel. I would put O halloran hill in the same choice.

 

I think it probably comes down to the first house you see that ticks all your boxes and wouldn't rule either area out.

Our daughter goes to Woodcroft Primary and she is getting on great, she only started in October so it was all new to her and she has settled in really well. I agree even though it such a big school you wouldnt think so when you in the playground as it quite spread out. We currently live just on the boarder of Woodcroft. Been looking at both Happy Valley and Woodcroft to buy.

As people have said they are very similar as are all the surrounding areas, we live in woodcroft and love it, our kids go to woodcroft primary and like Michelle and Liz we love it and have no complaints, our 3rd child starts there this term. There is a great dance studio on Sherbrooke boulevard, woodcroft called Fusion dance, my daughter goes there and is getting on really well, they do ballet, jazz, hip hop, tap, zumba, etc.

Thanks for the replies everyone, very much appreciated. We applied for rentals very close to Woodcroft and Braeview primary schools and as everyone has said, both lovely areas. How very kind of you Suzie for your offer . Thanks for the dance fusion info - the girls do tap, ballet & jazz and I did zumba in UK, so it sounds perfect!! I had read your story already Liz/Rich, made me cry!!

We were successful for the house near Woodcroft primary, so decision made for us . We move in on Tuesday. Everyone seems so lovely, I thought maybe a housewarming... but as we have only been here for one month (and our shipping hasn't even set off yet) we have nothing! hahaha you gotta laugh right?? Hoping to get beds and fridge tomorrow. Maybe Rob could suggest a good pub to meet instead? haha.. Otherwise I'll maybe bump into some of you at the school (fingers crossed we get places).. We live on the edge of Woodcroft and takes us 15-20 mins to get to the nearest beach.

15 minutes on a bad day. We however drive down to Silversands, Moana or Aldinga. This is because with a car load of kids and all the stuff that goes with a trip to the beach its far easier to drive on rather than carry everything you need for the day. Moana is about 20-25 minutes away, while our favourite, Silversands is another 10-15 minutes.

Our youngest ,11, goes to Braeview as we live close by. They are doing alot of building work at the minute but the school is lookig good by it and hopefully will be ace when it's finished.
