Hi there, we should be over by the end of March on a RSMS Sub Class 119. We have 2 girls aged 4 and 7. We are coming from Glasgow and can't wait to get over.

Singapore Airlines look like the cheapest at the moment with their 40kg baggage allowance for 1 way when you are activating your visa.

I have a job in Mile End and we are beginning to look for rented accommodation in either Aberfoyle Park, O'Halloran Hill, Seaview Downs, Seacombe Heights or Darlington but that is just from looking at rented accommodation on Realestate.com.au. So any info on these areas would be appreciated or alternative suburbs welcome. I guess we are just concerned about the areas being nice and friendly and having good Primary Schools for the girls. Oh... and the beach and the parks and the shops and the public transport and the ...............!!

Is there any documents like say 'car insurance no claims' or anything else that might make things easier?

I guess there is so much to organise that I'll forget most of it anyway, so any help is appreciated!

We hope to meet up with some of you guys out there once we are over to settle us in!

Cheers

Jim

Bring proof of your no claims and most company's will accept it.All the areas that you have posted are pretty good areas like most areas there are Little pockets that ain't so nice think every area has these. You will find it hard to get someone to give you a house while you are still in the UK most like you to be here to see the house first. Some look OK in the pictures but once you get in and have a look about they are not so nice. Most people get furnished accommodation for the first few weeks so they can have a look about at the areas and the rentals on offer.

  • 2 weeks later...

Yea take documents like ur car insurance. Also worth while opening urself a bank account while ur still in scotland. we did it online and was realy easy to do. We stayed in a caravan park (brownhill creek)for a coupel weeks then had 2 stay wi friends for another 3 weeks till we got sorted. u should take refrences for things like if u rent back home or if u own a home ,paper work from ur mortgage etc, that helps when house hunting. we just moved out ourselfs over 2 months ago from the north of scotland. we have just about got settled in. if u ant 2 ask anything else message us back.
