Houseboat on the Murray River

We are looking to book a long weekend on a Murray River houseboat when my folks visit sometime between November and January this year. Does anyone have any experience of this? There are so many companies advertising houseboats in this region on the web, I don't know where to start!

 

Any advice or experience on good companies or best places to pick up the boat would be appreciated.

Brilliant choice of holiday! We've done it twice, once from Murray Bridge and once from Blanchetown. I can very highly recommend Griffens Marina at Blanchetown, they have reasonable rates, great boats and free secure parking on their premises, plus it's not too far to drive to. From Murray Bridge we only did a short 3 day trip because of time constraints with my in-laws holiday, and it was a good way to try out a houseboat holiday, but from Blanchetown we had a 7 day hire and just went from Blanchetown to Cadell and back, stopping at Morgan, and Cadell and a couple of other out of the way places, I think Mirbook was one. The boats are really easy to drive, and parking is a cinch! Even I can do it!

 

Take loads of food and drink, and really casual clothes, and a few fishing rods, and have a super relaxing time on the River. It's great fun, my favourite sort of holiday.
