887 Visa - What's the update?

sunnyside

Recommended Posts

regarding 2 years stay in Australia if you don't spend 730 days in Australia immigration refuses the visa application and will never ask to withdraw your case. if you have substantive(any valid visa other then bridging visa) then you can reapply. if immi refused your visa and you are on bridging visa you can't apply again so be careful everyone.

any update today anyone?

Hi all,

I'm new to this forum. Applied for 887 visa in NT on 21 Jan this year.

I was reading through some of the older posts last week, particularly the ones regarding early lodgements (before 2 year criteria is met), and decided to double check my dates and stuff just to make sure, but unfortunately realised a bit of mess up:

Me and my wife shared preparing the application for lodgement, and she submitted it when I was on a mission, there was a misunderstanding on the first date of arrival to Australia, as she thought it was on 21st Jan, but in fact our departure date was 21st, making the arrival to OZ 23rd of January 2014.

This makes our actual stay in Darwin short by two days (728 instead of 730).

Tried to call up the immi but no luck due to the long queue.

Wondering if anyone has had an experience with this? I know early lodgements if say a month or a couple of weeks do matter and will be rejected, but what is the case for our 48 hour mess up? Do we have to withdraw / re apply and stay back in the queue, or will the immi waive our silly mistake?

We have met the holiday criteria (only 28 days out of country between 16 Dec - 15 January 2015), and Work (full two years of full-time work)

Would appreciate to know your experience on such.

hi PKH887

if you haven't spent 730 days even 1 day less unfortunately your application will be refused as it happened with me. I applied in nov last year and got refusal letter last month lucky I had 487 visa still valid and I applied again but if I didn't have valid 487 visa I wouldn't be able to apply again. I had to pay application fees again and now I in waiting list again after waiting for 5 months.

be careful they won't even look in to application if it's less then 730 days. if you have your current visa valid for till atleast 7-8 months then take risk otherwise I would suggest you don't.

I AM NOT PROFFESIONAL YOU CAN CALL IMMIGRATION AND ASK THEM ITS YOUR CALL WHAT YOU WANT TO DO.

please keep us updated how you go if you want to go ahead with same application

your holidays are no problem at all coz they only 4 weeks each

Thanks Aust,

That's so unfortunate. Wondering if they could setup the IMMIaccount system the way it can automatically check against the dates and warn you know if you haven't met the criteria? So bad we just realised the mistake, and after over 4 months of waiting. Luckily we have our 489 visa valid till August 2017, so a bit of slack till we run out.

Cheers,

PKH887

Hi good news to you, I actually think you are fine!

see if you arrive on 23rd Jan 2014, then on 22nd Jan 2015 you have 365 days. on 22nd Jan 2016, you have another 366 days. so till 22nd Jan you have 731 days. And guess what? on 21st Jan 2016 you have 730 days!!!

hooray!

Guru

its bot like they are waiting to complete 6 months as standard frame.Sometimes it is a matter how we attach our documents on Immi account(presentation makes easy for CO to understand our file)

well that is a another matter so don't take stress about anything. I guess you might not get direct grant because you would have got it if it was a case. But I tell you we all never knows what will happen tomorrow.

best thing is don't be stressed please and keep patience you will get PR sure in a 2 or 3 maximum weeks I have feelings like that.

No I did not double count days. You forgot the fact 2016 has 366 days, i.e. 2016 is leap year!

I don't think your calculation is correct to be honest. Each year is 365 days, so to reach 730 days (inclusive), I must have applied on 22nd Jan. I guess you're double counting the days here?

Hi Benjayden, You will receive email when case officer is assigned .. and some times they send grant letter directly .. and you will see on immi account documents requested or assessment in progress. . my suggestion is do not waste time to check status everyday .. its very painful to see no change. when case officer allocated to me I got email before any update . Just wait for email for grant only ..you will receive email notification if any update on file will happen.

[Q.UOTE=Benjayden;328933]G'day all,

Hope this is not a silly question.

From IMMI account, how do we know that a CO was assigned to our application?
