I had a brilliant day...so different from last year. We arrived 5 weeks earlier and hardly knew anyone. Em's birthday is 2 days after mine and she said that last year she felt terribly lonely on her birthday (she'd only been at school a week) and so for her, this birthday is going to feel so much better than last year.

 

As for me, I spent the afternoon at a winery, eating a picnic with a glass of wine in my hand frequently being topped up. I went with some wonderfully lovely friends, who I am thrilled to be able to class as my friends. The day was a perfect example for me of why we came. Good friends, beautiful surroundings, different experiences, low cost, outside, etc etc.

 

I have had a perfect day.
