Weather in Adelaide in April

Hi all, we're coming out to validate visas in a couple of weeks, and just wondering sort of clothes to bring, ie how warm it's likely to be there in April?I've looked at weather charts etc but they only give averages so don't give any guide as to how predictable (or not) the weather is, or how much it varies from middle of day to evening. Would we be ok just bringing the sort of clothes you'd take for a summer holiday in the UK? Or are we likely to need boots/coats etc? Or something inbetween?

any advice greatly appreciated!

Hiya.

It's a bit of a guessing game here at the moment.

35c and humid two days ago,now 21c, raining,cloudy and feeling a heck of a lot cooler!.

Just try and realise that 20c here is not lot 20c in Europe, it feels cooler and on top of that the nights can be a tad chilly.

Bring layers,you will start with them all in the morning,shed as the day goes and then add em' again as the sun goes down.

So "something inbetween" is right!!!:biggrin::biggrin:

Unless you are very brave, it will not be summer holiday weather, although I have sat on a Bournemouth beach in rain with a mac on!!

As Tyke says, the weather is variable from now for the next few months, it will be getting colder and, hopefully for our gardens, we may get rainy days.

You probably won't need boots, but you may need a rain jacket and waterproof shoes, as well as a fleece for the evenings.

Hi there,

You can get all 4 seasons in one day! Sunny morning and hailstones in the afternoon!

We arrived mid April and the weather was brilliant...swimming...real summer weather. A week later a storm hit...lasted a week and night time temperatures dropped. It didn't help that the suitcase with all my clothes in had been left behind!

Like Tyke says...it's a different type of cold and the wind chill factor can really cut through you!

What the others said really. The sun here is much hotter than the UK so if the sun is out it can feel really warm even if the temperature is only in the high teens. If the sun isn't out, or you are stuck in the shade, it can feel freezing. When we came on holiday in April in 2011 we had some lovely weather and it felt really warm during the day - we spent a fair bit of time on the beach. However it got much colder in the evenings to the extent that we put the heaters on in the house we were staying in. Be prepared for anything.
