We are in the process of waiting for our Visa (had meds and police checks etc).....so getting closer to our dream all the time. This week is half term where we live and as usual we have been relying on grandparent for support. How do other people manage this in Adelaide - when you move and have no support network? Are there kids clubs? Are they affordable? Does the time they run fit with working hours? Any advice would be much appreciated.

No such thing as half term holidays here!

Usually though younger kids go into OSH care (Out of School Hours) which a lot of schools have on site during the holidays - from all accounts they have a whale of a time there - unless you have a great employer who will let you take them into work with you.

As Diane said, no half term holidays here. The school year here runs from end of January to mid December. There are four school terms with two weeks holiday between each term during the school year. OSHC on most primary school campuses run before school care usually about 7 or 7.30 - 8.30 when teacher supervision in the playground starts. After school care is usually from end of school to 6 /6.30 ish. Vacation care runs Mon - Fri except on public holidays. There are usually a few excursions to things like movies or ice skating etc scheduled.

its really not easy without your family re the kids.. you cant go out as a couple (unless you put them with a minder, whom you dont know from adam), you cant get family to collect your kids from school, or drop off or look after them whilst on school holidays...and the worst is they are with you 24/7 for a very long time... you can tell i need a break from the kids already..so i cant get a full time job and part time jobs are pretty hard to find...
