  11. Do we all need to provide these details to assess our worth before we contribute further?????????? To quote Wayne's World 'we're not worthy!'
  12. I found the same when I compared Apple product prices between UK and Adelaide, Adelaide was cheaper. For example an iPad air 32GB wifi only model is £479 ($865) in the UK or $699 here, or if you purchase at Dick Smith $648. Dick Smith seem to do deals on Apple products (friends and family say you don't tend to get these in the UK) and when I purchased a new iMac I found similar savings in Adelaide compared to the price in the UK, plus I got a free Apple TV as part of the deal.
  13. Just seen a trailer for Tuesdays episode reckons it's a South Australian spectacular!!!!!!!
  14. Anyone watching it tonight? On 7Mate 9.30pm I think it is supposed to be in Adelaide.
  15. In the lead up to this year’s state election, RAA is calling on all South Australian motorists to become an RAA Road Champion and join the drive for better roads. On behalf of our almost 600,000 members, RAA is advocating for greater investment in road infrastructure, learner driver training and public transport – topics that have been highlighted as areas of concern in feedback from our members. RAA surveyed twelve city routes in 2013. Eleven of the twelve routes surveyed during the morning peak period were operating below the minimum acceptable standard. The afternoon peak run was a little better, with 3 out of the twelve routes operating at an acceptable standard. Goodwood Road commuters, travelling toward the city, spent an extra 12.5 minutes in the car every morning last year than they would have if our roads were operating properly during peak times. This equates to a total of around 52 hours a year. City bound South Road commuters spent an extra 38 hours a year longer in the car in 2013 than in 2012 – a result of the introduction of bus lanes on Anzac Highway. This report highlights once again the deficiencies around our inner city ring route and major arterial roads. To show how bad Adelaide’s congestion levels are, RAA put two metropolitan roads to the test in its latest state election road challenge. V8 supercar driver Tim Slade was back in the driver’s seat of the RAA Road Champions car to test who would get from point A to point B first, a car….or a tortoise. Check out the video below to see the results of the RAA Road Champions Urban Road Challenge.
  16. Maybe HP can rehire some of the people they have made redundant.
  17. Just looked on the MFS website and it is a fire at a composting business.... http://www.mfs.sa.gov.au/site/news_media/criimson/advice_message_lonsdale_issued_19_jan_0930.jsp
  18. I applied for a loan for a car for approx. half the amount you want, but was declined because I was still in my probationary period, think I was in month 4 out of 6 months. This was despite having been here 5 years and having been in full time perm employment for all that time on a fairly decent wage, having our own home and the only debt we had was the mortgage. The stumbling block was purely the fact I was still in my probationary period.
  19. We live just south of the city and we have got ADSL2+ and get about 16mb download. We have had no problems with getting connected, but have heard of areas running out of ports. The new Government is ripping the guts out of the original National Broadband Network (NBN) by removing the fibre to the house and relying on fibre to the node and then the old copper to the house, reducing future speeds. We are going backwards! In a previous position I dealt heavily with Telstra and they seemed very reluctant to upgrade their infrastructure.
  20. Did your husband gain his 457 sponsorship by cold calling/visiting companies in Adelaide asking if they were willing to sponsor someone or through someone you know? Could be helpful to others to know the method you used as it was obviously successful.
