Hi Don't use a bank to transfer money over, you will lose a lot in fees. I have used Moneycorp and OZForex . We kept a bank account open in the UK and then transfered the money over when we had set up our OZ bank. Once you have set up with Moneycorp & OzForex the process of moving the money over was simple. Hi Matt. Were you able to fill this position

Yes its a no brainer. We had it fitted over 2 years ago not paid an electricity bill since. Although the tarif has changed since then its still a good deal. you do need research the companys that do installations, thats easy to do online. We used True Value Solar and I would rate them. The only thing I regret his not installing a bigger system.

I had Adam Internet for about 9 months, I had lots of problems with it dropping out. It works well if you have line of site between you and the transmiters, my problem was a palm tree blowing in the wind, when there was no wind it worked a treat. Must admit the help desk tried to sort the problem but in the end had to give up. They refunded all my payments for the 9 months

HI all. Just to let you know that scrouge has reared his ugly head back in the Uk. The vat man strikes again sent a parcel to my daughter and she has to pay 40 pounds vat on it. Seems that they have changed the rules this year, if you are sending anything with a value of over 40 pounds you will pay vat. If you are sending for more that one person you need to put all recipiants on the delivery note with the value of each gift.. A Merry Christmas to the VAT man Les

Hi Bridget, We used Pickfords when we came over last October, They did a good job although you will have to keep your eye on them when they are packing, they didn't bring any packing boxs for suits and coats and wanted to pack them in small boxs. other than that they came ontime and delivered to the door, unpacked all the big items, and came back to remove the packing cases of the items we unpacked ourselves. My sister used PSS and she was very happy with them. Good luck Les

Hi Teresa. Good news with you selling your house, we have been here for just one year and we are just settling in.our advice is to open a bank account while you are in the Uk you can then send money over to your account so its waiting for you when you arrive, You can open an account online, also there are a couple of the Oz banks that allow you to open an account in the Uk.My sister used PSS fror shipping and she rated them highly. Regarding what to bring, if you need a container its worth bringing everything you can if your furniture and white goods are in good condition then its worth bringing them , and you can replace them as you need and take your time. Also it can be quite cold during the winter so its worth while bringing winter clothes and winter bedding. you will find a place to rent quite eaisly. You will find that things do go through your head most of the time and will do untill you make the move. Good luck with your move. Les & Babs
