We are in Flagstaff Hill and love it. There is a nice mix of people and nice shops and doctors etc. The primary school at Flagstaff Hill has quite a lot of English kids and is very welcoming to all. I don't think you can go wrong in this area (either Flagstaff Hill, Aberfoyle Park) There is also lots of nice walks and cycle tracks and only 10 minutes from Brighton Beach and the Marion and 30-40 minutes commute to city. The houses are also lovely and we know lots of people here both from uk and Aus and take everyone as we find them. So all good.

Hi My wife has been applying for jobs for the past year and has not received one interview, only rejections. She is getting really down about this as she is very highly experienced in the admin field. She worked for a very large organisation back in the uk and was an Office Manager over a number of staff. She has also got a Business and Finance Diploma and several really good references. As it is really hard here to get your foot on the ladder she has been applying for very basic clerical jobs as she appreciates that she will probably have to start at the bottom again until she works her way up again (as this is how it generally works here) but even the most basic part time admin jobs are rejecting her and not even offering her an interview. We would be very interested if we could get some advice from any of you who have gained employment in the admin/finance field or in bank jobs etc as she is finding it near impossible and it is very frustrating as all she needs is the opportunity to show an employer what she can do!!!

Sorry to hear your news. I was in the same situation last year. Got the phone call my father had a major heart attack and was on a life support machine. Rung immigration got told I had to have an Australian passport to re-enter and had to make an appointment at immigration which they could not give me for 3 days. In the uk my father was in a really bad way but immigration showed no compassion. In the end he died before I could even leave oz. Still not over his death and made worst by the fact I was here and not with him when he died. I know I should have got my Oz passport but he was only 62 and really healthy and I never felt an urgency to get it as I did'nt think it would happen like this. The message is get the oz passport because it can happen to any of us! Deb x Thinking of you

I have some painkillers, but I am quite a nervous patient and the wait makes me more nervous so would rather be booked in quickly as I will panic the longer I wait.

After the initial consultation did you have to wait long for a date given for the work done and the tooth out? I am in a lot of pain and would like my two wisdom teeth out ASAP

Hello Has anyone had wisdom teeth removed whilst been here. I went to dentist yesterday and told needed to see a specialist to have 2 wisdom teeth removed. Apparently need to see an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon. I have no idea of the cost involved etc and would like to hear from you if ou can advice me of who to see and the cost etc? Any help would be good, Thanks Jon

Hi All I am travelling back to uk for a visit. I have a uk passport and a australian passport. Which is the best way to do it. Do I travel out on uk one and back in on australian one? Also I only have 8 months left on my uk one, do I need more validity on this passport to travel on it? Any advice would be much appreciates. Thanks Jono

Hi Just wondering if anyone has any advice for me about an incident that happened today. I was driving on Reynell Road and saw a random guy point a camera at me. I later found out chatting to someone that he is a council worker in shorts and t-shirt with a grey ute which apparently has a speed camera hidden somewhere. He is hidden round a bend slightly uphill and just waits for you to poke round the corner then he pounces. I was doing 52 in a 50 area, but apparently told by a friend that I will recieve a fine in a couple of weeks! Can council workers do this and is it legal for them to wait around the bend and distract by pointing camera at you with no warning?

Just wondering if anyone can offer advice on parent migration. My mother is 62 and my father recently died, so she wants to come out and live with us and we have looked into this. We find it confusing and expensive and think the only way she can do it is on the contributory parent visa (very expensive and takes unto 2 years) Has anyone had experience or advice on how to get it cheaper and faster etc? Hi We moved here 3 years ago and started off renting in Aberfoyle Park which we thought was a good base to start life here. It is 30 mins ny car to city or there is a dirct bus which takes roughly 45 mins. It is also 10 mins from a large shopping centre and also 15 mins from nice beaches. It also has good schooling nearby.

Has anyone been to a dentist in either woodcroft, flagstaff hill, aberfoyle park or happy valley thet they could reccommend. Thanks

Hi all I would really appreciate anyone who can offer advice for a really painful problem I am having. Went to dentist yesterday and told after several x-rays that I have an absess under my tooth. Now been reffered to specialist. Does anyone know what treatment I will have and costs etc? Please help as I am in a lot of pain and worried about what will happen and mounting costs.

Hi In answer to your question yes you do have to continue paying the rent until someone else takes over your remainder of the lease. It is really hard here timing everything i.e buying, selling etc of homes and sometimes you find yourself in this situation. However if the home for rental is a good area and good quality as is this one, then it should not be a problem getting someone else in.
