  7. Just reading news and came across this so thought i would post it here incase anyone interested:D HOUSEHOLDERS will have more flexible watering arrangements for their gardens from Monday but will still be restricted to no more than three hours a week. Under the new arrangements, householders will be able to water for 1 1/2 hours twice a week instead of being restricted to three hours on one day. The Government announced the changes after a Cabinet meeting yesterday where it considered calls from the community and gardening experts for more flexible arrangements. Even numbered houses will be able to water on Tuesdays and Saturdays between 6am and 9am or 6pm and 9pm while odd number houses will be able to water on Wednesdays and Sundays between the same hours.

So does anyone know roughly how much a paint job will cost and any recommendations as where to get a quote??? Id love to go all the way and get a design painted over the car too but im gonnna be hard pushed to get him to agree to a paint job let alone that He keeps bashing on about de-valuing the car, but i love my little car and wanna keep it til the day it dies so that doesnt bother me in the slightest Ive said if i cant get a proper job done im gonna do it myself so i think he may cave eventually and just wanna be prepared Would it be a good idea to prep the car myself?? or should i leave it to the professionals?? Bees

We are nearer to the esplanade side, but not far really from commercial road is it, maybe its taken em a week to move over this way then eh, they say they usually only move 100m or so each time they move, so could be about right i guess time wise, well i hope i never see em again, it wasnt very pleasant if like me you have a real fear of em:biglaugh:

    Bees

Just thought i would let you all know, today myself and a friend had nipped out to do bit shopping and on our return, as we pulled onto our driveway at 2.45pm, my house was surrounded by what looked like thousands upon thousands of bees:err:Well neither of us have never seen nothing like it and my biggest phobia is wasps and bees!! Pair of us got our windows up in record time i think:biglaugh:To say it was horrid was a understatement, they were swarming around a bush across the road and was so many of em they were all across my neighbours and my drives and gardens, couldnt get out to get into my house so my friend took me to school to collect my kids and when we got back just after 3pm was no sign of em, i rang council and they said its pretty normal for this to be happening at this time of year, and after speaking to a neighbour he said yep its quite common in spring and they dont usually travel too far from where they have come and are looking for a new place to nest, just thought i would let peeps know, incase anyone else stumbles across em in the next day or two, cos apparently they usually move about within 24 hour periods until they find a new place to call home I never thought i would come here and see a sight, hadnt even thought about bees to be honest, am dreading the walk to school tomorrow incase they happen to decide to up and leave again We are in the seaford area and so just be on the lookout, you may see them about Dawn x
  15. is the 175 the same as the old 136??? if so, our application arrived in oz around about the 24th march i think( if i remember rightly) and our visa was granted on 7th august so a tad over 4 months:)tho it can vary a lot, some peeps wait much longer, we frontloaded everything so soon as case officer picked up our file it was all set to go and it seemed to work for us. I guess theres no specific answer for you, if you are one of the lucky ones you may not have to wait too long, or you could wait longer than you think, bit like the question how long is a piece of string, anyones guess is the answer Hope they dont make you wait too long and you get your visa without too much stress:wubclub: Dawn x
  16. We have been in adelaide for 6 months on the 30th october so thought about time we had a bash and thought what the hell eh be good time to meet some new peeps:wubclub: loads of peeps we already met will be here and hey you never know you could meet ya next best mates:) So we are hosting our first aussie bbq on saturday 1ST November from 3pm onwards and you are more than welcome to join us, whether you have been in adelaide 6 days, 6 months or 6 years, feel free to come along! The usual rules apply, BYO wine/beer and a few sausages to chuck on the bbq or a cold plate of summat or a salad Our garden is huge and could take 100 peeps easily(tho dont fancy cleaning up sunday morning after 100 guests;)) we have been to a few bbqs at friends houses and always had a good day/evening, so if you can make it pop along!Hopefully the sun will be shining We are in seaford:v_SPIN: Pm me if you want to come and i will forward our address and phone number Dawn & Andy
  17. we used them too, molly my youngest refused to give up her 4 foot spongebob plush and only way to get him in was to vac bag him. he got here safe n sound and shes happily sleeping with him every nite:)i used em to squeeze some extra clothes in to as we shipped nothing, so any extra we could get in our cases was needed:wubclub: I was dreading going through customs, we had left the keys for all our suitcase locks back in uk and all i could think was if they stop us and ask us to open a case we had it, was having nitemares on the plane had visions of me stoood there and em making me open all me vac bags too and then having to ask em for a vac to get everything back in:nah:luckily we made sure we had nowt to declare and we went through no probs
  18. Hi Grant Andy my oh is a electrician, came out on the old 136 visa so didnt have to do vetasses but hope this will help Once we arrived andy had to get a certificate from artc stating his trade, this we gained by having to send copies of all his certs and references etc much the same we did for tra for the visa, i am presuming that after vitasses u wont need to get artc, your vetasses cert would take the place of artc but you would need to check with artc and vetasses on this note. Andy fell on his feet and got offered 3 jobs the first week he applied for anything, and they took him on unlicensed on condition he did the necessary to get his license, so he did the wiring regs course at peer tec at night for 6 weeks. Once he passed his wiring regs he took it into the city along with his artc and paid the fee and they sent the licence out within 2 weeks. Its pretty easy to gain your license here in SA compared to other states, so i wouldnt worry too much about it and plenty of work around at the moment, andy still working for the same company but he does check the paper and always electricians jobs in there, the only difference with you will be you would have done vetasses whereas andy didnt so not sure about artc whether you will have to do it having done vetasses, you could email artc through tra website and ask em. Its just wiring regs course then you will need to do and if you do it via peer tec you can do it by correspondence then just go in to take your exams at the end, tho andy did say doing at the college was really helpful as if something wasnt easy to understand someone was there to help you with any questions, correspondence you would have to wait for a email response etc I will get andy to keep a eye on this post and if theres anything else you wanna know just yell:) Dawn
  19. Hi Peeps looking for some advice reguarding tax returns, we arrived in adelaide on 30th april and hubby didnt start work til 2nd june (i think thats correct date) not long anyway hes had 4 pay days since arriving, hes a electrician and had to buy all new gear when we arrived and pay for courses to help gain his licence, now thing is having only been working a short while, do you think its worth paying a accountant to do his tax return?? does his uk wages before comin out have to be included on his tax return?? Also i work from home for a uk company and upto now am still paying tax in the uk, so my tax return should be pretty straightforward i guess?? I just dont know if its worth paying a accountant twice for both our tax returns if its gonna be pretty easy to do ourselves with us both only having done a months work in the australian tax year?? hes got a appointment tonight to see one accountant but would have preffered one who could have popped in to us at home, like we always did in the uk, much easier when you have kids etc etc so if anyone has any recommendations or if theres any registered on the forum and has time, please feel free to pm me Thanks in advance for any advice Dawn x
  20. thanks everyone had to ring round family and tell em all so its been an eventful 24 hours to say the least;) they all pretty pleased for us though, even though me mum gonna miss her grandkids terrible, shes still happy for us. was checking out flights last nite too, not even put the house on the market yet and im off dreaming lol right well gotta crack on gotta get me house ship shape ready for monday gonna call the estate agent and instruct em to sell:eek:then ive got all those people trapsing through my house to look forward too !!! Dawn x
  21. ohh i shall jot down your number and give you a call when we arrive early next year! i did have about 25 lessons here in the uk 2 years ago but then hubbys mum passed on and we moved house and the stress of life made me give it up for what was supposed to be a little while then with the visa thing i never got back into it and thought now we so close to moving over may as well wait til we arrive, its the one thing i will want to start more or less once we land, 3 kids and no car in summer hols is a nitemare here and am hoping if i can pass my test me and the kids can go exploring in the hols!! will give you a call when we arrive, cheers
  22. oops sorry thought i put that, must have been the excitement:D we applied for a 136 skilled visa under hubbys skills, yes we front loaded meds n pccs, we prob would have had it a little quicker if not for the delays at lcu processing meds cos our meds actually arrived in sydney on 12th june and pccs were sent ahead on 14th june then we got case officer on 20th july just asking for meds, obviously had put our pccs with our file, meds couldnt have been processed at that time or they wouldnt have asked for em?? well thats my thoughts, so they must have been processed sometime after the 20th which means they took 5 maybe 6 weeks to be processed, so i personally would front load em if they are taking that long to clear, i dread to think how long we would have had to wait if we hadnt front loaded! it was bad enough the 16 days we did since getting a case officer! we wont be moving over til earliest jan/feb 2008 due to house sale, we had a fixed rate mortgage on our house and if we complete before 1st jan we gotta pay 8 grand odd, which we cant afford to lose cos only been in house 18 months not got a lot of equity anyway, so need every penny. hopefully though we can time it so it goes through just after xmas and so hope to be out there in time for the start of the new school year for the kids in january;)so it may just have been timed right for us! good luck all those waiting and those just starting the journey, it was a little stressful at times but am sure glad we decided to take the ride now!!
