  3. theres been a few incidents in the seaford area lately, we had our shed and garage ransacked last fri, we believe they was lookin for hubbys ute and work tools but he was working nights at the time, so must have been gutted to open the garage and find a old kitchen and then to open the shed and find nothing but boxes of empties ready for recycling our neighbours had them in their garden the same nite and a house 7 doors down had their ute broke into and all his tools nicked, the previous thurs someone on the next street had their tools all nicked too Our kids bikes, electric scooter and all our garden tools were left so thats along with the fact another ute the same nite got done, makes us think they was after hubbys tools. The petrol station on commercial road had a sign lit up warning peeps about the crime in the area at the moment too. Annoys the hell out of me some peeps think they can just come along and take ur stuff. We have two dogs so hope that will stop anyone ever getting in the house, but it is scary especially when you have kids and you hear other peeps being targated too We reported it to the police, even tho nothing was taken, they put it down as attempted burglary, so least the crime figures are real and they know how often its happening in the area Dawn x

  6. Dont panic too much, we hadnt a clue where was was staying 2 days before we left the uk, and we being a family of 5, we waited til oz time, had a list of caravan park numbers to ring, and got a cabin from the first one from the list, we arrived in april tho so was winter, but sept its just turned into spring so i would think the caravan parks will have vacancies should you not get the oaa and u will have plenty time to find a caravan park with vacancies:) 3 weeks is loads time compared to how we did it lol All the best for your trip over Dawn x
  7. ha sorry was too busy enjoying me curries and forgot to come back let ya know, really nice curry, i wouldnt say it was like the indian i used to get from my local in birmingham, but being from brum we was spoilt with some of the best curry, but it was very nice, tasty, easy to make and follow the recipe, just basically chuck it all in and let it simmer, i will deffo be ordering some more, was nicer than any take away ive had since being here, i only tried three, tikka masala, madras and balti and id deffo buy all 3 again:)tho the madras was pretty hot, so if u not keen on it too hot then prob not a good choice:) it was so good i bought plastic containers and made huge pots of each then froze them in little portions:) had one couple nites ago out the freezer and was just as nice as the first one:) im gonna make it my mission to try all of them i think and see which ones are my fave, might even work out cheaper to get em all ordered in one go, took about 9 days to arrive but it was easter weekend when i ordered them, so maybe bit quicker normally Dawn x

  14. does your wife have a provisional license in the uk?? if so bring it with you. Basic rundown of gaining a full licence here is Get learners handbook, learn all there is in there, go take a test similar to theory test in uk, once this test is passed, you then get your L's, you can then take driving lessons, you have to have your L's here for a min of 6 months and a day so if she has held a provisional in the uk, bring it with her, cos they will count time on a uk provisional against her L's here, i didnt bring mine and learnt to drive doing the log book, passed all that and still had 2 months before i could move up to P's until someone told me about the provisional from the uk, i got a copy from dvla and took that along as was able to use the time id had it along with the time on my L's here to proceed to my P's,you can either do the log book or take a test to gain your P's once you gain the P's you can then drive alone, with P plates displayed for one year, then you have to go sit a hazard perception test to proceed to your P2's, once this test is passed you then gain your P2 licence and can then drive alone without having to display P plates, then after another year of good driving you can then go obtain your full licence. All this is presuming u drive well and keep a clean licence cos you can at anytime go back a step if you are caught being a bad driver. more info on the website someone already posted:) im at the stage i gotta go take my hazzard test now, so i think that info is all correct but just check with the website to be certain:) Dawn x
  15. i been looking into getting a above ground pool and from what ive read anything thats more than 30cm in height needs a pool fence regardless of what sort of pool it is or thats how ive read it, is there anyone out there who knows for sure??
  16. Hubby is thinking about taking the next step and looking at getting a contractors license and just wandered if any other electricians out there have done it? He was self employed in uk for a while but never had to do business studies etc that he needs here, any advice really that might help would be appreciated, hes contacted peer about the business course he needs to do and other than that it looks pretty straight forward from what ive read on ocba's website, but better to hear other people experiences, sometimes things look simple but never turn out they way. Any advice be good before he decides whether to do it or not Cheers Dawn x
  17. Glad your visit went well, dont worry about the magpies, was usually only one trying to peck me at a time lol aint seen any swooping yet this spring so might have moved on to a new tree this spring:)
  18. yep our two girls go seaford k-7 and they both are happy in school, the staff are lovely and ive not had any problems or issues since they been there, which is coming upto 18 months, jess is in the school choir and loves that too, they spend plenty time outdoors and lots of good trips the kids love, educational but fun too, all kids different and i guess as a parent you will get a feel for the school when u visit and know if it feels right for your kids, good luck in your decision for me and my girls its worked out well i dont know what age yours are but if you decide to send them there and you want me to mention to the girls when they starting and maybe to say hi to them, might be nice for them to have someone break the ice for them in their first few days, just let me know and i will get the girls to make the effort to welcome them:) my girls are 10 and 11 in years 4 and 5 Dawn x ohh forgot to say yep watch out for those pesky magpies in spring, i regularly had to dodge them as i walked across to pick the girls up last spring
  19. all done anyway thanks, done it ourselves in the end
  20. think u will have probs trying to get one with just a debit card, when we first arrived thats all we had and we tried to hire one at the airport and they wouldnt accept it ,even tho we had a few thousand in the bank. we had got a prepaid credit card as back up but unless u have been using it regular for a min of 3 months with most places, they wont accept those either for car hire, we only know about the places at the airport tho, someone might know of somewhere they may accept it Dawn x

  22. hi davey hubby is a electrician, tho working for a fire alarm company at the moment, i will ask him to keep his ear to the ground if theres any work going anywhere and if he hears of owt will give ya a yell:) have you tried emailing ya cv off to peeps randomly?? this is how hubby got his first start, he got the yellow pages out and any companies with a email addy on he forwarded them his cv and a brief email stating we had just arrived etc etc and he had a fair few replies and interviews lined up from doing this, so might be worth a shot.we have been here almost 17 months now and hes not been out of work since he first started looking 6 weeks after we landed heard summat briefly on radio yesterday that sparkies are one of the most in demand occupations at the moment, so you should find summat soon Good Luck Dawn
