  1. Thanks everyone for the advice, I'm guessing if it was me and I have been issued a notice then I will pay no question! I will check to see if the rental company are pulling a fast one first. cheers have a great Christmas and new year all
  2. Thanks for all the replays, Im not trying to get out of anything that would cause me to have to pay more or loose my licence. Surely if it came to them cancelling my licence, then one would assume they know my address! If that is the case then I should, in theory receive a notice in the post. I spoke to my friend in the UK who is a police officer and he said, they won't follow up on overseas speeding fines as it costs too much. This is australia, so I'm only assuming it would be similar. So I think I will wait a couple of weeks to see if I get a letter and think about what I should do then, at least that's what my police officer mate has told me in the UK to do. As far as he knows, when someone has an overseas driving licence and then gets a UK one they are linked and should get a penalty notice. Just going to wait
  3. Ok, but who would I contact to pay, as don't have any details? I had applied for an Australian licence a week after the rental. So I've had a Aussie licence for the last 2 1/2 months now. So I guess they should know where I am and send a fine? In any case, I may just have to contact someone and pay up. Thanks snifter oh sorry, yes this is an Aussie speeding fine
  4. Hi all, We moved here in sept and had hired a car for a couple of weeks, then bought our own. Just noticed my UK bank account had a charge from the car hire place?! I called them and they informed me it was an admin fee for passing details to the police regarding a speeding fine. ? The rental company passed on my UK address as I booked the car before we left and was from a UK account and at the time I only had a UK driving license. Also I haven't received a notice, the only reason I know about it is that I saw the car rental charge! All my UK mail is redirected to a relative and so far they have not seen anything. Can I get out of this one? Or should I tell them my address?? advise please Kev
  5. Hi all, we received our container this week and everything was exactly as we had packed it! Also it wasn't opened by customs at all. best Xmas present ever!
  6. Thank you for your responses! We are free Sunday, so if you want to meet up, that would be really good. Not sure what the weather will be like but if your free PM me and we can arrange something Minimel2710, when did you arrive? We landed on the 27th sept, so just over 4 weeks now....it's gone soo fast! Speak soon Liz and Kev
  7. Hi everyone! We have been here a month now and things are starting to settle down now. Has been a stressful time, but we are in our permanent rental and the kids are at school. Anyone free for a meet up, beer, picnic and a chat? Starting to feel a little isolated Kev and Liz
  8. Hi all, We have been looking for a second hand car and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a dealer? cheers kev and Liz
  9. Hi guys, Kevin here, sorry we have been off the radar as we are still in our first week and it has been very stressful! As those that have moved before us will know that setting up is hard work. That said flossybth we did find a short term rental and just today have accepted a long term lease in aberfoyle park...... Hi berries, yes I was a hospital based pharmacy tech in a hospital in kent and did work in community before that, we came over on a 190 PR under my wife's role as a midwife. But I ended up getting a job in a hospital here starting on Tuesday (Monday is labour day). Had a Skype interview back in the UK and got the job offer 7 days later! Good luck with your ielts, my wife really suffered with that as she is dyslexic!! Kev
  10. Hello all, We have a movecube shipping our stuff to OZ and we wanted to know what insurance people have used for a cube? The insurance that sevenseas offer only covers the WHOLE loss of the cube and not the contents. I tried insure you move but they won't insure as movecube is not a member of the guild of removers. anyone used an insurance company for this? thank you in advance kev
  11. Hi guys and girls, My husband landed a job and had a Skype interview, he starts on the 6th October and we land in Adelaide on the 27th sept! We too are frightened too, but I guess that's all part of having the guts to make a big move like this. We have been so excited and then the other day as I was handing my children's school a letter to inform them the kids will be leaving and too remove them from the register, the school reception said 'Are you sure you want me to process this as once it's sent I can't retract there removal from the school' I was like Errrrm yes we have booked the flights' I then it hit me and I got the wobbles!
  12. Morning all, In another post I made I had said about there not being any work for Midwives due to cut backs within SA health....well I still can't find a job, but my husband has landed a job and they have given him a start date. We've gone from plodding along feeling down, to making plans quickly!! We are in need of accommodation from 27/09/14 for 4 weeks. If anyone could help that would be fantastic! Liz x
  13. Hello all, Starting to feel like we should give up on Adelaide I had started to look for employment months ago, only to find they are desperate for Midwives in NSW, Victoria and Queensland....but guess what, not Adelaide. Speaking to others we know in OZ it does seem SA is not growing like the other states, it's a real shame as we have been to Adelaide twice and we love it so much!! I was able to contact the management facilitator who has said the the government has taken $6 million from SA health's budget. And they are not employing. I've had great responses from the other states, so I am looking at moving elsewhere for the time being with the hope of getting back to Adelaide in the future.
  14. Hi all, I just wanted to share our good news today, our visa (190) was granted today and as the title says our youngest son was born with a heart defect (Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome). We didn't post this information before and we we're both fully aware that our visa may or may not have been granted, but you only live once and we thought it was worth trying!!! Luckily our son has been very well since his open heart surgeries x3 and we kept all his medical reports since he was born. He only has a once yearly check up and thriving! We just wanted to show to others that it can be done, although every case is different and we do know of another family, though the childrens heart charity who's visa was refused. As I say its case by case. Good luck to you all and anyone in a similer situation, PM us. Kev and Liz x
  15. Hi all, Visa granted this morning!! As you can imagine we are over the moon good luck to those still waiting Kev and Liz x
  16. Hi all We have applied for a 190 on 20/12/13... And due to the back log are still waiting I'm guessing due to the back log things are going to take a long time for everyone. We had planned to move the end of September, so I guess that's still achievable. Good luck
  17. Hi Toneless, Good luck to you too! Our timelines are very similar to yours, we so want to hear good news tomorrow, but my betting is that it might take awhile to hear anything Who knows for sure maybe......just maybe we will get that email tomorrow. We will post hopefully soon good luck all x
  18. Hi all! Well with all the visa backlog that is happening and july just around the corner, I'm starting to get alittle excited again!! We were told, like many of you that we would'nt hear anything until july. Fingers crossed for you all still waiting Kev & Liz
  19. Hello ayrshire2oz We are still waiting for AHPHRA finish our application, just fill in the oversea passport with visa section and send it to them. We had also ask ANMAC to forward documents and we we're going to send all the documents anyway (just in case) but we had troble getting them together and just sent the application without any documentation...just to get the ball rolling. They contacted us last week and said everything was recieved from ANMAC and they only required my CV and evidence of my CPD. Which I have now sent. Once you arrive in OZ just go to your local AHPRA office with your visa and relevent documents and they with then issue your PIN. Hope this helps Liz x
  20. Hi all, I can also confirm there is a backlog, we are going on a 190 and our case officer has advised us that limits have been reach for the year and that it will not be finalised until the first week of july That said the CO said our medicals have cleared....so I guess indirectly that means we have a grant?? Also because our PCC was cleared on 18/02/14, that means when the visa is granted we only have 7 months (from july) in enter Australia. That said we hope to move by August anyway. Hope the situation changes before then!
  21. Hello kezza01, We are also a family of 5, I think prices may vary on where you go and also if one or both of you work as a doctor/nurse/midwife as they do extra tests, which cost more. Yes its alot but worth it in the end, ours we're done in london and cost £970. Also being healthy does not affect cost, as they do the same medical to all regardless. Hope this helps Kev and Liz
  22. Hi Cherries002, Given your situation I think some advise from a migration agent would be good. I have only been a qualified Midwife for 2 years and would be able to find employment, although that said I have gone for a 190 PR. How many points do you have? Are you looking to be employer sponsored for extra points? Do you have any other qualifications? I hope you can find a solution/answers Liz
  23. Thanks Caz! I have one question, the part that asks for three identification documents from sections A B & C, It states in A: Overseas passport with valid visa......but I don't have my visa yet?! I read an old post on Poms in Oz that you can still apply and once you land in OZ, you just go to the local AHPRA office with your visa and they then issue you with your pin. Is this right?
  24. Thanks Mandi, That would be great! I'll keep everyone up to date on our timelines etc. Good luck and I hope you get there soon
  25. Mandi, Reccie was fantastic! Hottest day was when we drove to moonta bay...42c! Lots of research, schools, hospitals, houses etc. We initially thought seaford, as a lot of people do, but knowing there are more hospitals for our job prospects are central and north, we are considering gawler and Evanston. Given commuting times and the fact that the New Royal Adelaide hospital is being built on North Terence is seems wise to be where the jobs are. Although that could change, depending on where we actually get a job. I have to say the staff at the RAH are extremely nice and welcoming, maybe I'll go there too! Welcome Toodolou!
