  1. Hello ladies. Can I pick up on this thread?! I live in Grange and we arrived in January, I am 45 and my boys are 12 and 16. I love the city and also the cafe culture near us. Would love to find some friends interested in... shopping, film, theatre and of course wine and food! I used to belong to a book group in the UK so that would also be a real bonus.
  2. We have also taken the plunge and bought our first home in this area. We are breaking lease on 97 Marlborough St. Older type house so really big rooms, rumpus, great garden. Open for viewing next weekend, our landlady has advertised on Gumtree and will put in Advertiser but happy to pass on her number. our boys walk to school from here and it is an easy bus/drive to city and surrounding areas. We love the area so much we have bought two streets away! Wendy
  3. Hi all, we are hoping to rent this property (vieweed and applied yesterday) or at least one like it as we want to bring our dog over from wales in June and our landlord will only allow pets outside. We are breaking lease on a large 3 bed 2 bathroom on Marlborough St Henley Beach , walking distance to Beach, square, Henley High School and Fulham North Primary. It has wood floors throughout, large rumpus and good sized back garden. We would be happy to stay but we are desperate for our pooch to join us! We are paying 420 dollars a week.If anyone is interested it may offer a more flexible way of securing a property for arrival in June.Wendy
  4. Hi Geoff just a note to thank you again for introducing Matt to the u18 Toros. We have been so impressed with the standard of coaching and professionalism that the club maintains. Here's to a successful season. Anyone out there still considering a club I would highly recommend!
  5. That's great. Look forward to seeing you there.
  6. Geoff great to have your reply and enthusiasm! Matt turned 16 last October so would play U18s. Shall we bring him Fri this week?? Wendy and Tony maybe we could PM and swap tel no's??
  7. Hi all, we dropped out of this site for a while there! So quick update... we arrived Jan 2nd, have rented a pproperty in Henley Beach and our container arrived yesterday! Matt 16 has started Y11 at Henley High, Calum 12 is going to Fulham North primary. I got a job this week too so things are good except.... for the sport:wacko: Calum is hoping to start with Brighton Rugby Union but matt is struggling to find a soccer club. Are the Western Toros still looking for U18?? Anyother clubs close to western suburbs that could do with a strong corner taking wing back!? Calum has made a few friends and although matt has no mates outside school yet he has found the school kids friendly. Hubby to get a job now hopefully and we'll be rolling! So far so good and we are loving our new life, what a great time to arrive, heatwaves, Fringe and floods! Scriv

Sold our house, medicals last week, hoping to ship our stuff a soon as we hear of our PR and book flights to get out asap. We have relatives in Adelaide finding us a rental in the Henley school zone, our boys are 12 and 16. All very excited but finding the prep, working f/t and family guilt EXHAUSTING!

  21. hi guys my name is Calum I'm scrivs son. I'm in year seven so this is my first year in comp in the UK and we are moving to AUS in January 14 BUT ...I dont want to go back to primary!!!! Has anyone had to do that and did you survive?? I think we are going to be living in Henley Beach area.
  22. Hi we lodged ours online in Aug. Our case worker has requested docs which we supplied. Medicals at half term / editing for police checks to come back. Do you think it is too optimistic to think we could get out by January? Our house is sold... We are ready, just wondered if there are any more stages for the PR visa to go through??
  23. Oh no, that's grim. I'm trying to talk him into going January so our boys can start in school asap, they are 12 and 16 so not ideal. I teach and have some supply work lined up, maybe we can get by on that money at first. He is reluctant to give up a permanent job here, I had hoped his skills in Steel Industry / munitions / Quality Assurance would fare him well.
  24. I thought that may be the case with TV! Hopefully we won't miss it as we will be so busy doing things outdoors?! Found your post so informmative, thanks... keep em coming. What line of engineering work are you applying for? My husband is with BAE in the Uk and will be looking for work in Adelaide in Quality Assurance. Scriv
