  1. Hi I'm just wondering if anyone can help me. I'm considering doing a course to become an ODP and wondered if this career was currently on SA state sponsored list? Or any state sponsored list in Australia and if not has it ever been on. I'm quite interested in this career but I also want to emigrate within 5 years and it would be pointless me doing this course if it is unlikely to be beneficial yo me in emigrating. My second option is radiography, any suggestions on which would be the better option for emigration purpose? Thank you x
  2. Hi, I would like to know if anyone has successfully gained a visa through their job as an operating department technician? Do these exist in Australia and if so what would it come under on the skills list? Thank you.
  3. Hi Kim, congratulations on arriving in Adelaide, you must be sooooo excited. Hope you are all settling in well and kids with school, enjoy the rollercoaster that is now called home! Look forward to the updates, take care, Joanne x x

  4. Does anybody know if you can have your trade assessed/had their trade assessed through Victoria University? Just looking on TRA website now and states that carpentry can be assessed through either VETASSES or Victoria University for GSM Visa (offshore). Looked at vetasses website and it does not look like their have any openings for assessments up until as far as August? Am i right or wrong? If can't get trade assessed and visa sent off before 1st July then I dont think we will qualify under the new points system if it goes ahead. I feel as if we are never going to get to Australia Jo
  5. Anybody??? thinking of starting this long process mid year but wont be in a position to lodge visa until later next year, wondered if there was a time limit between positive skills assessment and lodging visa. Hope somebody might know, thank you. Jo
  6. Hi, can anyone tell me once you receive a positive skills assessment (joiner) is there a time limit whereby you have to submit your visa or does it last forever. Thank you Jo
  7. I watched that episode too, did they decide to go back but to Brisbane where they originally wanted to go. I was also wondering if they went back Jo

  9. Hi Kim, that is fantastic news bet you're really chuffed!! Hopefully you will get a lovely "VISA" christmas present. Did you change from 175 to 176? Things must have moved really quickly for you then. We are all good here, still wanting to emigrate but not in a real rush any more. I will keep an eye open for your big news, soon hopefully! Jo x

  10. Hi all, Looked into emigrating 1-2yrs ago but hubby needed bit more work experience to satisfy requirements. I haven't been on for a while and was wondering if anyone has recently gone through Vetassess as Joiner and is it still the same as previous i.e. paper based assessment, practical. I know there have been many changes recently to visas etc and wondered if vetassess requirements were still the same. Sorry for rambling on. Thank you. Jo x
  11. Hey Kim, How are you doing? Are things progressing with your visa yet? I haven't seen you on for a while. Hope you hear something very soon. Take care, Joanne x

    Hi

Welcome to PIA, we aren't taking the plunge for a good while yet but this site is full of lots of great information, good and bad, you can't help being addicted to it. Good luck with the visa process, and at the last and final count...we have 5 kiddies!!
  13. You can get cheap sim cards from pretty much anywhere these days in UK, Asda, Tesco, sainsbury's etc, you can also go to Orange.co.uk and get a free orange sim card, maybe someone in the UK could do that for you so it is waiting for you to use straight away when you arrive. Happy holidays! Jo x
  14. Hi kim, yea work has picked up now and John is back at work which is great. Was quite shocked at the CLS situation but u have been waiting a long time alreay so fingers crossed it might not be too much longer. It's a nightmare isn't it. I have decided to go into nursing (midwifery) in September so if we don't make it with Joinery then we have a bak up plan!! Will take a lot longer but somehow I think it will be worth it (better be!!!) ha ha. Take care and hope to hear some good news soon. Joanne x

  15. Hi Kim, things are going a bit slow here, John has been out of work since before christmas so at the minute Australia is taking a bit of a back seat! Still can't help coming on PIA everyday to keep up to date with everybody else's adventures, its a bit addictive! We will get there it might just take a couple of years longer than we first thought. When do you hope to be in Adelaide? joanne x

  16. Hiya Kim, hows it going? Bet the waiting is killing you. Have you heard anything yet on the visa front? It must be coming up nearly 7 months, hopefully it won't b too long and then you can start planning your new life down under. Catch you later. Joanne xx

  17. Congratulations on TRA and baby! We are still in the process of accumulating "2 years work experience" so haven't even got to the stage of TRA yet, we can't do anything apart from wait, husband's a joiner and has been out of work for few months so that has put us even more behind. As they say ..all good things come to those who wait.. hope so. Good luck for the pending visa app and hope its plain sailing from here. Joanne
  18. Gill, so sorry to hear your news that you are returning to the UK. This is obviously the right decision for you and your family and I hope everything works out for you all in the future. Take care. Joanne x

    New Life In Oz

Hi Tina, Just reading your post and noticed that you are going on a 176 sponsored by a relative. When we come to apply for our visa we too are hoping to go for that visa as I have an aunt and uncle in Adelaide. What does the sponsorship involve on the relatives part? Is it just form filling or do they have to put forward cash of some kind like a bond? Ideally we would like to go on the 175 Visa but we might be 5 points short. Anyway enough of the questions, as long as we get there hey! Take care, Joanne x
  21. Hope you had a great New Year, all the best for 2009, Joanne x
