  1. Sorry, just want to check... do we have to register for medicare even though we are on a 475 visa only receiving reciprocal care? Thanks Julie
  2. Hello, as new arrivals in Adelaide, trying to get our heads around all the things we need to sort. Have got quotes in for Medical Insurance from Community Health but confused:confused: Once we have medical insurance, do we register with a GP and Dentsist or do we wait until we need one? Any advice will be greatly received. Thanks Julie
  3. Hi, we have just arrived in Adelaide, staying in Hallett Cove and are looking to find out if there are any football teams for under 8's? If anybody knows of somewhere that offers soccer for this age group, I would be grateful (so would my son!). Thanks Julie

  8. Thanks for that.. was hoping schooling would be like this. Children attended a school in the UK which was very much "performance" orientated, and sometime felt that the more social and life skills part of learning fell by the wayside. Julie
  9. Hi there, can anyone give me any feedback on Hallett Cove R12 school. We arrive late September and looking at this school potentially for our 2 children. Thanks Julie

Hi there, just a note about your rocking horse because we nearly got caught out... If the rocking horse has real horse hair, you have to have a certificate to say that it has been treated for it to be allowed through customs. We were advised to remove all the hair from ours and then get replacement hair when in Australia as some have had problems even with a certificate. Julie

  14. Hi there, We would love to come along too. We (me, husband and two children 7 & 9) are flying out 21 September. Sounds a great idea, our son Charlie (7) excitied but a little scared about having to make all new friends so far away from home. Thanks Julie
  15. Hi there, We are moving in September and have been trying to find out how I can go about getting my qualifications transferred to the Australian Equivalent. I hold a level 3 in Child Care and Development, and have been the deputy supervisor at a sessional care provider (2-5 years) for the last 2 and a half years (worked in childcare for 7 years). Does anyone know who I need to get in contact with the find out what the Australian equivalent of my qualification is and how to get it certified? Any advice greatly appreciated. Julie

  19. Congratulations... We got the call this morning too - still can't quite believe it. Julie 475 visa - granted 19 june 2009 (yippee)
  20. That's what I am hoping... fingers crossed
  21. Hi there, just to say we are in the same situation as you... allocated our CO in February, everything sent and are yet to hear something. After alot of persuasion, our Agent finally sent an email to the DIAC last week. Got a pretty standard reply saying that our file was with our case officer and they would be in contact in the future, so nothing really enlightening or hope giving there. Our applicaton has now been in for over a year (submitted 25 May 2008), and with no end in sight, starting to think maybe someone is trying to tell us something! Think I may leave it a couple of weeks and perhaps phone them directly and see if I can find anything out. Good luck to you and all those waiting Julie
  22. Do you do this from the status query page, or is there another place on the DIAC website I go to? Will definately give this a try. Thanks for the advice Julie
  23. Don't really know myself, I have read from a few others not reccomended, and our Agent doesn't seem particulary keen to do it either. I can't believe it can do any harm, but have been asked to wait a little longer before I make any calls.
  24. I just find it sooooo frustrating. I am resisiting the temptation to phone and chase at the moment as have been told this not a good thing to do, but think I will if I don't hear soon. Hope you hear soon as well Julie
  25. We were notified that we had a case officer early Feb, and asked to submit some additional information, which we did immediately... the odd thing is we were given 70 days, not 28 as seems to be the norm. Our agent says this is just up to the individual case officer. Was wondering if anyone else had been given 70 days. Deadline has now passed, and we still haven't heard anything! Thanks Julie:arghh:
