Hi Linda I have to complete the safeguarding day of training yet I've got it on the 17th August. However when I went in to hand in my skills assessment they said I couldn't hand in my application for registration till that was back hmm I might give them A call just to check. So you sent off your application with everything other than your police check? Xx

Hi emma I teach children with special educational needs, I have taught from reception up to year three so anywhere in between there would be great lol. I have sent my CVs or resumes as they call them here to a few schools. However I will definitely get myself on that directory to have a look Are you annoying teaching here? Thanks to your clear instructions lol I have submitted my skills assessment, sent of my police check with their letter and I've filled out all of my application so it's just waiting for those certificates to come back. I have also completed half my first aid qualification and I've booked my safeguarding training for 10 days time which was lucky as all other available dates were end of September!! But that day they had added a new date! Phew! Just out of interest how did your journey pan out with finding a teaching job? Thanks again Beccy x

Hi I am arriving in Adelaide on 3rd August!! I'm a teacher and I have a 189 permanent visa I am trying to register but I gave a few questions if anyone could help... I have had a criminal record check with my visa in March... Do I need to do another for my registration or can I just send one off? It mentions one specifically for offences with children and vulnerable people (understandable) however my police check with ACRO covers all offences (which I have none lol) It's saying I need to have my skills assessed but I have already had hear assessed by AITSL and I have a certificate which they say I have met the requirements to be a teacher... Do I have to do another one? Help!! Thanks in advance Beccy

Hi Andrew Me and my husband are moving over in August 2015 We already know where we want to live and we are looking to buy a house. We will need a mortgage of about 80% how long do we have to wait to apply? We are coming over on a 189 permanent visa. Any advice would be great Thank you

Hi all i am applying for a 189 visa and I have both birth certificates, the long and short one. my husband only has the short birth certificate (I am applying for the visa) will this be accepted? has anyone applied for a visa using a short birth certificate? Was it accepted? i would be so grateful of any replies, the speedier the better. I want to send all the stuff off tomorrow thanks in advance beccy x

Thank you all, I have found some info on this on he customs website. The main things they are worried about are new items in the box like one post mentioned above because you may end up selling them, items that were once alive (inc wood) and the obvious stuff which is illegal. I agree with you nicF they are very unlikely to go through all my boxes to check things are 12+ months old lol. Thank you for your advice and words of luck Samandcraig. Hi my visa is a halfway through and when discussing my plans with family members my sister and fiancée are interested. my sister is a qualified nurse and has been working in adult nursing for over a year. She would want to go over to oz till she has been qualified for two years anyway. However as her qualification is a diploma, is this accepted in Australia? Or does she have to have more years of work experience? I have also read somewhere about a nursing bridge course? Would she have to do this? has anybody managed to emigrate to oz with a nursing diploma? Did you manage to get a job easily? Did you have to complete a bridge course? If so how much was the course and how long did it take to complete it? Also what visa did you go over on? sorry for all the questions I'm just excited at the possibility of my sister coming over with me thank you in advance x

Hi everyone, I am about halfway through my visa application and just thinking ahead... I am looking at buying around a quarter to a half of a container to bring over loved items. I have been reading on the border protection website and can find lots about illegal items which you cannot bring in. the only very relevant piece of information I can find it that the item has to be used and owned for the last twelve months? Is this correct as I have bought new items to take with me? i have also been told I can use uk electrical items over there as the voltage is the same (just need a plug adapter) is this correct? Will these be confiscated? i have had a family member say I won't be able to take anything wooden? (They haven't ever been to oz!) i am coming from the Uk if anyone can give me any advice, or stories about their experience of shipping items over in containers etc and if you have had any items confiscated and why? Thanks in in advance for your help ?
