Charges for breaking lease?

    Recommended Posts

Do you have to pay any charges for breaking your lease on a rental?

Is there any way you can change your mind on the rental you are in if you have only been there a short time?

    Any advice welcome. x

Yes there can be charges if you break the lease and move out you have to pay the rent till they get someone to rent the house, you can also be charged for the advertising of the property as well. They also know that they are getting rent of you till its let so they are in no rush to get it relet again.

We have just broken our lease and costs were(apart from bills) advertising fee and break lease fee, the last two have formulas laid out by tenancies act, if you are having problems with anything (agent, landlord, etc)I would phone the office of consumer and business affairs and see what advice they can give.
