Looking for a soccer club - but I'm no professional!

Hi,

 

I'm arriving in Adelaide in June and was wondering if anybody could give me a heads up regarding soccer teams in the area. I'm originally from the UK (but arriving in Oz via Norway, Malaysia and South Africa) and I'm 32 now so I'm not looking to play at a particularly high level but I would still enjoy playing in a competitive league. Ideally, I’d also like to join a team that has a friendly social element whereby having a beer may be as important as winning. I’m happy to play 11 a-side or smaller and willing to play in social games if there isn’t a competitive league that’s suitable.

Adelaidenow - I'm not quite sure at the moment but I think it will be around the Flinders University area at first (the place where I'm going to be employed). However, I used to drive a 60km round trip every weekend in Malaysia to play football so distance and time isn't necessarily an issue. We're expecting to arrive in around 10 weeks.

Try soccerdads.com.au - friendly bunch who play 5-a-side every Friday night in Hahndorf. Followed up by a beer in one of the very decent local pubs in Hahndorf. Good fun, some nice players there and a beer after. See you there! Mix of English, Scottish, Welsh, Aussie, South African and Dutch.
