JAZZ it up

Jazz enthusiasts will be flocking to the Adelaide Hills this Queen's Birthday Weekend for some music to soothe the soul when the Hoot! Adelaide Hills Jazz Festival rolls into town. With enough toe-tapping music events to warm the coldest of feet this winter, attendees will witness an astonishing range of performers converge on the Hills and you won't want to miss out!

Catch your fix of Jazz all weekend in a string of the most outlandish and intimate venues. Where else will you find a gig at a funeral parlour, on the train, in a church or on a bowling green? Only at Hoot! Adelaide Hills Jazz Festival.

Just might drop in on one or two of those venues. My only connections with jazz are (a) I played double bass in school band and later stood in with a forces band playing at the Raffles Hotel in Singapore and up country Malaya at a plantation owners club gig (an eye opener in how NOT to treat the locals. I was ashamed to be white) (b) Went for an interview for my first civvie job and found that my boss to be also played bass. At 80 something he is still playing with his own jazz group.
