Work sponsored 457 visa, how long does it take?

    Recommended Posts

Hi, my OH is awaiting a work sponsored visa to come through, we have made it clear that we want to move ahead of term 1 2015. Should I be worried or is this type of visa typically more straightforward as it is both temporary and sponsored? I feel like I can't start any preparations until t's are crossed but conscious that January will home fast. Anybody else moved on a 457 recently and has any input?

Thanks I am perhaps stressing unnecessarily they just seem so laid back about it and I am like aargh! When can I break the news to the kids that we are dragging them away from everything they know....

Do you know if the nomination has been submitted yet to Immigration? Ours took 10 weeks from the date of application and I think that is pretty standard.

We did have some delays with HR actually getting formal job offers and such sorted though and then everything prepared for immigration....they certainly can be laid back!

    Good luck

Pass. Nobody is particularly forthcoming with info. They have all our documents that's as much as I know. Time difference is a real issue when trying to get some answers.

Hi Emma! What does your immi account say?

Again, pass. I don't even know what an immi account is!! I am somewhat out of the loop as I am just accompanying my OH, he is super chilled about it all so I get no answers off anyone.

They are normally pretty quick, especially if the employer has already sponsored other people before. Good luck. :-)

I like your answer best! The employer fad been through this process several times and they estimated 2 weeks, I just wondered if anyone had any recent experience to back this timescale up. Thanks
