    Recommended Posts

Hi a couple of simple questions (I hope)

My driving licence has HGV category c/c1 (class 2 in old money)

On a 457 4 year working visa can i just drive on my British licence or do I need to swap for Oz one and if so is that a easy task!!

You can drive a car on your British licence the whole time you are on a temp visa (then you have three months to change to an SA one once you get pr). You are supposed to carry your passport with you when driving too, but I never got asked for it in over 5 years (I did get my licence looked at).

To drive a hgv you will need to take a test here. It's not very cheap I'm afraid.

If you are already working in a job, and doing a course etc will help you advance IN THAT JOB then you can claim it against tax. You have to have already started though.
