  2. All sorted now as found someone. Thank you
  3. Hi We require someone for casual work as a roofing labourer for this week only. Job is in Reynella. If anyone interested please pm me. Thanks Niki
  4. Thanks for the recommendation Ian. J
  5. Thanks Karenbfam & Snifter Sam was still in 6th form at the time and just think he found it too much to leave his friends behind. His balance of family is more in UK. TBH I think he only thinks about it when he's fed up and he seems to think grass is greener etc. I think he also forgets how difficult it is to get over here. He's in an established relationship and they're expecting a baby so that makes things a lot more complicated for him. He definitely won't get a skilled visa that quickly and he would also have to re-train. I will tell him but I don't hold out much hope of him coming out or getting it. He definitely wants to visit but further than that? Niki
  6. Thanks Snifter He's definitely not going to make it before July. I did think that maybe the boat has sailed for him. Kind Regards Niki
  7. Hi We have been here nearly 4.5 years on a 176 visa. We got our visa in July 2009 and moved here January 2010. Our son who is still in England was also on our visa but decided not to come, but he did validate it within three months of us being here. He is now talking about coming over here. As our PR as such ends in July (we are going for citizenship), not sure where this would leave him. Only talking about a visit at the moment next year but would he need RRV or a visitors visa and has he well and truly blown it for coming to Oz for good? Any help / insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Niki
  8. I had mine done at the silver place next to Cheap as Chips in Seaford Shopping Centre. Good and reasonably priced
  9. Thanks everyone for your ansers. GeoffuZz - like the idea of triple nationality. Just had aways thought of just having one passport, not two. Thanks once again. Niki
  10. Hi, just tried pm'ing you but says you are not set up to receive pm's. Niki
  11. Hi Never thought of this before but my friend raised this with me the other day. We are going for citizenship next year. I already have dual nationality as I was not born in UK. I assumed that we would just get australian passports but my friend said why not keep the english ones. She told me that if the kids wanted to go to Europe when they were older, they would have problems if they held an aussie passport. Is this right, has anyone experienced problems with this? Thanks Niki
  12. Hi I am a roofer and have had good and bad experiences with builders. If you want to pm me I can give you the details as don't think I am allowed to give phone numbers out on here?! There is one builder here that you should not even touch with anybody elses barge pole that goes under a couple of names. cheers Jason
  13. Hi Iam just about to go to one in the CBD in a couple of weeks re getting my mum over for good. They were very helpful over the phone and emailed me various different options. The only drawback is to see them will cost $400 for the consulatation but I was getting nowhere with Migration and getting thoroughly fed up. They are called Doconade Legal and Migraton. Here is the weblink http://www.doconade.com.au/ Hope this helps, even if you only email and get a bit more clarification. Good luck Niki
  14. Hi Golly wobbler gave me some great advice re this. We have been here three years and my Dad dies 5 months ago. All my Mum has got is me as I have no brothers and sisters. I spoke to Immigration and emailed them. Verbally they are much better but tied tied me up in knots of confusion regarding emails and just referred me to everybody else. I have contacted a chap here in Adelaide who has said that my mum needs to do an onshore visa. My Mum is coming back to visit in July and we are going to see them then to seek advice as I want my Mum here, she's 75 and is in good helath but there will come a point where she is not. If you want the details for them, pm me and once I've been to see them, I also might be able to shed some more light for you. Hope it all goes well. Niki
  15. Andy at Critical Climates. Friend of ours and does work for any of the jobs we have that need aircon sorted out.
  16. We didn't bother with private health care for the first year but did have ambulance cover through the post office. We now have it and has paid for all of our glasses and a contribution towards my contact lenses. We have also used it in the last month as my 5 year old daughter needed to see ear nose and throat specialist. Got some of the fees back through Medicare. Got told if we went through our Private health would be about a month, otherwise 12-18 months. We could not wait as it was affecting her breathing. Actually was 3 weeks on Bupa - Thursday she went in to Women & Childrens to have tonsils, adenoids out, nose cauterised and camera down her throat. Care and speed of it was excellent. Niki
  17. Hi Ian. Cheers for that. We were originally after wooden windows but friend of ours said about them swelling in the heat (can't tell with windows you can't open haha). We were also told that new windows should be upvc and tbh had never thought about aluminium windows or just thought of it, secondary glazing. J
  18. Hi Been getting a few jobs lately where the properties have solar panels and are after a new roof so they need to be removed and then re-installed. Anybody in that trade interested in adhoc work for this at all? Thanks Jason
  19. Hi Moved into our ramshackle property five months ago, brick built and 50 years old. Shed loads of work to do and jobsworth that did diy before has not done us any favours. His wife was paranoid about being broken into so he nailed all the windows shut and applied some sort of something to seal it that we can't get out. So as said some of the windows don't open and the rest are rotten. We need to get a price on replacing them, unfortunately one by one, worst one first as so much to do. Was looking at double glazing but read some of the threads on here regarding double glazing and had completely confused me. Can anyone put it into english please and recommend anyone. Thanks

    wii items

Hi we brought ours with us and it was a lifesaver as put it in the suitcase. Unfortunately has now konked out just before Christmas and already bought new games so have to go and buy another. Just to give you a guide - BIg W do the whole kit for £199 including Mario Kart. They so far seem to be the cheapest place to buy one. This is for the old type WII not the new one to be released. Niki
  21. I'm really sorry to hear that. My thoughts are with you. Niki
  22. Hi Gill Thanks for getting back to me and your support. Just feel like it is all coming in on me at mo unfortunately. Never done things by halfs - just moved into a wreck, kids started new school and run a business and firstly try to sort Mum out. She is in good health just a bit of blood pressure. She is British and arrives for a 3 month holiday on the 24th of November with her tourist visa (same day as my MIL). Probate has to be sorted first before she could move over permanently. She never entertained leaving Cyprus, that was their forever home and tbh Dad was really ill and they never thought of something like that happening. We have said do three months to see what she thinks of Oz and just to make sure it is not a knee jerk reaction. Not that I am trying to put her off because I'm not, I just want her to be sure. Thing is friends aren't being very supportive and this is when she needs it. She has talked about selling the house, but I don't know how long that will take. Apparently though the area, she is in, people are always asking for houses. We were told probate if straight forward would take a couple of months. She has planned once her holiday is over to start clearing the house and also clear some of Dad's stuff. I've just read the links quickly, - SO many visas. I shouldn't think it would be a problem with the fees and I have no problem sponsoring her. She only has me and my family apart from my Dad's brother and his Mum. We have been here nearly 3 years in Jan on a PR visa. Also looks like the the other visa type, extended may be a viable option as well. We even said if she stays for six months at a time, that might be another option. I would like her here for good though as she is wanted and she is 74, and don't want here having to travel backwards and forwards all the time. Thanks for all your help and any info is much appreciated. Niki
  23. We lived in Christies Beach until 5 weeks ago. If we could have found a house there with the land that we wanted, we would have bought there. Lived there 2.5 years and never a problem. We got told it was ok but could be a bit rough. Must say UK was lot rougher. Have a look for yourself and see waht you think. All I will say though is that everywhere has somewhere rough Niki
  24. Thanks for the feedback. What is the difference between a 114 and a 115? What happens about waiting, is this when a bridging visa applies? Just want to sort this for my mum asap as she has no-one else apart from me and it looks like to me her true friends are showing their true colours. Thanks Niki
