  1. Hi Ashleigh, The Grand Chancellor on Hindley have Xmas in July on the 9th & 16th. 3 course meal all beer wine and soft drinks from 7-11:30pm with the Flaming Sambuca for entertainment all for a bargin $89pp
  2. We applied as soon as we could, been here since May 2009 and have done test and all sucessful. Just waiting for ceromony details. When in Rome!!!
  3. My hubby, I and our two boys have been in HC for over 2 years and we love it! Our boys go to Hallett Cove School and have made some great friends in the year they have been there. We have sea views and are right by the beach so often go for evening walks along the conversation area, up sugarloaf and then along the beach - is incredible and always have to pinch myself that we live here. There is a real community spirit and everyone says hi to you. They do call it little Britain as 30% of the residents are British and the same in the school they are all expats with British kids so nice that the kids all have something in common, I think that is why they tend to hang out with each other more. I work in the city and train journey from Hallett Cove Beach is 35mins, with sea views most of the way. If your husband is in Noarlunga he will have a 10minute drive to work, which is nothing in the scheme of things here. Is very quiet, and family friendly, lots of parks, skate parks and we even have our own little shopping centre which is relatively new but has anything you could need. Honestly couldn't recommend it more!!
  4. Hi Catherine - price is inclusive of everything! You just pay on the day and when you go through the turnstyles the kids get a show bag with sweets in. Also don't know why my previous comment said 'bugged'' that was meant to be bargain!!
  5. Morphett race course.......is a great day, you can take your own food and soft drink which is what ends up making it a pricey day, can of cokes and grub etc.(don't panic a bottle of bubbles is only $20) It is such good fun drinking in the sunshine having a little flutter whilst the kids go on the rides at the small funfair, included in the entry price of $20... bugged~!
  6. Hi Catherine.....yes it is Morphett race course......it is a great day, loads of poms there~ the kids get a showbag when you go in and then they have a small funfair there with rides and bits so the kids go on those, all included in the price so they can have as many go's as they like........may see you there then ~
  7. We brought all our Xmas decs with us and still had to buy some more as we now have three lounges and two dining rooms we have to have 3 large trees! Alot of people have solar lights here which is ideal and keeps the cost of the electricity bill down, as utilities aren't cheap. Do bring your lights but remember to bring lots of adaptors as you can't change the plugs on some crimble lights!! Don't panic you will love Xmas here, we always have friends to us, proper Xmas dinner with cocktails, kids all swim in the pool after then we party hard! A big crowd of us all hit the races on boxing day, has become a bit of a tradition (this will be our third Christmas here) there is a fair for the kids and we all drink and gamble and its a good excuse to dress up, and only $20 to get in for a whole family and you are allowed to take your own soft drinks and food. I used to always be so depressed in January after Xmas was over, cold dark and gloomy with summer still 6 months away, if you even got one, but here I can't wait for Jan as its the summer holidays, we have so much going on, with a wine trip booked on a London red bus, taking time off work with the kids and may do a road trip to Melbourne and have a weekend away at a hotel to play some golf........can't bloody wait! Also its nice buying summer frocks for all the xmas do's! Please ignore any of the negative things you read on here, it is only what you make of it and if you make the most of it you will love Adelaide......best decision we ever made!! Good luck with the move, hope its doesn't get too stressful!
  8. Hi Maggie, I'm originally from Welling and o/h from Sidcup. Spent 15yrs living on Faraday Ave. Moved here here May 2009 and love it. Yes its different dont think we will ever get used to 40 degrees X
  9. Hi All If anyone has or knows someone with print finishing experience ( folding stitching binding etc ) PM me as I have details of a company in southern suburbs looking for people.
  10. We had a pool installed by Freedom.Very happy with all sub contractors ( quick ,effecient and an eye for detail ) and overall a pretty painless experience compared to friends who have had pools installed. Be aware though of extra charges for removing grass, traffic control if needed and time frame of crane hire.
  11. If anyone is an experienced Printer and all round Print Finisher, Guillotine Operator etc. please respond as I can give you some information and pass on your details to someone that is in a management position in the top Printing company in Australia! If you have recently arrived or due to migrate in the next couple of months, please contact me on PM for this invaluable piece of information!!
  12. Hi Sian and Paul, do you remember us? We were enquiring about the Northern soul night, were meant to go to the one on the 20th, but had our mates son staying to look after our boys and we didn't want to be too far away in case anything happened, and couldn't get there quick.....just being worriers!!! Anyway we ended up at the Glenelg Poms in Adelaide get together.........I did a wee bit of advertising for Cushdy's whilst there and for the next one will be a few of us coming along. Was gutted when I last went on looking for the next do, as it was a week too late and missed the August one!! Kept my eyes peeled but didn't see one for July, am hoping will be one for September and we will have a free weekend!! A bit like that at the moment......since being here our feet have not touched the ground, so much has gone on.....will send you an email filling you in with the latest goss...is all good. Hope you and you family are all well...........maybe one day we will actually get to meet some likeminded Londoners who have great taste in music!! x
