  1. 2.1101 AUD to 1 Pound Sterling as of 15 July. ( last seen @ that level back in April 2009).......can only be good for our exports and tourism and encourage us folk to buy Ozzie goods
  2. Totally agree with you ,I Fly Emirates once a month to DXB. (Next scheduled flight from ADL is on the 1st Sept seated in 31G) and I will be reclining between meals (you've been warned) lol. Rgs. 246
  3. Its not that difficult to secure a pet friendly rental (with a small Jack) it should not be an issue, I don't get the NO PETS ALLOWED scene with some landlords, I'm a landlord and allow dogs in my property's (the property's are less than 8yrs old and one is a Scott Salisbury ) we have an excellent agent and tenants are made to sign an additional "Doggie Claws" (excuse then pun) so its made very clear to the tenant that after the end of an rental term the house is left in the same condition as the start otherwise the bond will suffer that's the norm anyway, 6 monthly photographic inspections and a strict tenant vetting by the agent have been invaluable and to date we have had no issues , carpets are cleaned and certified (that's carried out regardless pets or no pet any way), with the Scot Salisbury home we allowed removal of rear utility door and a dog door replacement with the original door to be replaced @ lease end ( we do stipulate professional installations), so as a previous poster has noted, always ask the question of pets although it may not mention it in the advertisement... Guess the wife and I are biased being dog lovers.....please don't even think of rehoming your pup........ unfortunately nothing available with us all on long leases in fact we have one tenant who has been with us for 6 years
  4. I'm in a similar situation as yourself been in Adelaide since 2002 haven't spent enough days in Australia for citizenship due to work, current passport has 6 years to run but pages full, been advised here in the UAE (British consular) that page extensions are no longer available, and passport renewal is only undertaken in the UK with at least a 8 wk. turnaround which is not good( as they need to sight the old passport) and I need to travel on a regular basis. Two options are open to me .... book an appointment in the UK @ passport office (really don't want to travel to the UK @ present) or after speaking to UK passport call centre is apply for a second passport , now the application must be entered as a new passport (so you must supply all documents, ordinarily they would want to sight your original passport but due to my situation I'm unable to relinquish it for that length of time and was advised to get an official letter from my company(stamped signed my GM etc. etc. )stating reasons why I cannot present it, however there is a possibility that at some point in the application process they will request my present passport and at that time further negotiations may be necessary or even an interview @ a British consular near you, she assured me it is possible in some case's........it worth a try.......failing that UK for a couple of days good luck 246
  5. That's a shame me and the misses really enjoyed it on the two occasions we tried Blighty's , well worth the $s ,the drive and the wait to be honest
  6. Hi There Forum Annual Termite Inspection due and was looking for a change in the company I use @ present, any of you have recomendations Rgs. Alan
  7. Can only dream of your bills LOL,,,, ours Elec. $766 Gas $292
  8. Rip Maggie , (personally) we never had it so good , best man for the job.
  9. Fly Emirates ADL/DXB often good new planes, good entertainment, food and service. Could imagine connection times to be an issue when a delay arises on traveling to Europe as terminal 3 DXB. is a rather large airport to navigate in a hurry.....possibly an equal issue arises here in Adelaide due to the Airport curfew (backward bloody town lol) whereas on two of the occasions I’ve flown the late arrival from DXB meant the aircraft couldn’t depart due to airport closure (with the pending daylight savings this issue will be slighty improved for the Winter months) (Adelaide if you want an International Airport on your doorstep don’t think you can force it to shut shop @ 23:00 hrs. and re-open @ 06:00 or there a bouts) Flight capacity on my experiences are either 1/3 full to overbooked (Check in staff @ Adelaide did mention that the period from 5th Dec thru to end Dec was over-booked( guess that's understandable)..... but my honest opinion is its up there with SQ. Dubai is a must to see pure fantasy.....fake city (bit like Disney) ,what you won't see is the poverty and living conditions of the immigration workers who have built it ,cos you'll be on the other side of the facade....... but hey that’s anotherstory.
  10. Check with the Agent/Landlord on weather the dwellings are "Strata Titled" as some strata titles will have restrictions, also known as articles, which dictate the behaviour of the unit owners. These articles can include: not keeping pets or animals at the property maintaining your unit in good condition not obstructing the common areas not using the unit for illegal purposes.
  11. Not used it much as im time poor @ present.....it is a bit of a toy and not so pratical as an every day vehicle so spends most of the time in the shed (5mts old and 1,200 kms on the clock) LOL...plan to do the Flinders etc. and also to Robe for the sand etc etc.one day... Must admitt not so keen on the camping side of FWDing (wifes idea of roughing it is slow room service) so will use the accomodation nearest to venue(s).....happy to day trip @ present..
  12. New to FWDing also just purchased this......Heard this place is good http://www.saundersgorge.com.au/ rgs 246

  14. That depends on type construction of the pool and size , usage and who uses it ..... we have a concrete/tiled 55'000 Ltrs. and controlling the PH is slightly more intensive than a plastic/glass enclosure due to the activity of the tile grout etc. but hey its no big deal maybe over the season I use an xtra 10 +/- ltrs of acid (over a plastic set up) acids cheap $15 for 5 LTRs.....Our filter/chlorinater pump runs 2 hrs am and 2hrs pm during summer months(with Chlorinator output @ 50%).....saying that our pool is aways covered while not in use as UV rays will deplete chlorine levels and water evaparation can be severe....kids in and out wearing sunblock, and mutts jumping in also have a major affect on chemical balance.....when we built we installed a pool shower which helps control pool balance. During winter we have a Walco Winter cover and the pool basically becomes a rainwater tank as in no maintainance require while cover installed , solar pump and filter cycle for 5mins per day to avoid seizure during this time, In summer the chlorinater is acidized once a month and over the season maybe 2 to 4 KG of buffer is added to protect chorine, now because we cover the pool when not in use and our bombing days are over (dam) we have very little water waste so usually no salt required (for the last 3years )....so for us cost in minimal to enjoyment ratio......Salt Water pool is the way to go Rgs 246
