  1. You have so just made me chuckle as I read that! The world is your oyster and you are panicking!?! To be fair, ofcourse you are. It's HUGE what you are about to do, but it will be wonderful too. Just remind me that they were my words when it's our turn. I'm quite certain I'll be a complete wreck by then!! Please say you'll check in on PIA after the move. I'll be after any/all tips you have on the finer details, such as shipping and rentals, etc. If we don't get chance to meet up before you go, then have a safe journey, and maybe we will when we eventually make the move. Congratulations and good luck with the new job. Take care, Rach x
  2. Oh! What's occurring? You can't go before we have had a chance to meet up!!! Fabulous news, by the way. I totally get the butterflies thing. We haven't even had the big green light yet and I'm anxious about moving - but can't wait at the same time! It will all be good. In fact, it will all be great when you get there. How was the job offer? Are you effectively employed already? Rach x
  3. Made up to read your fab' news. You sure know how to ride a rollercoaster! Rach x
  4. I hope it went ok today... Rach x
  5. Sorry to hear that SA plans have fallen through, but thrilled to hear the Aussie dream lives on - in WA :D I'm made up for you, Rebecca! Rach x
  6. Congratulations!!!! Today will be a blurr - enjoy your celebrations! Rachael x
  7. :jiggy:I bet you are feeling 'jiggy' now - great news!! So, on with the visa, now. After a little celebrating, ofcourse!! Rach x
  8. That just leaves Helen and Chris to give us an update now (Pixie7). Come on with tthe good news, we're waiting!!! Rach x
  9. Yay! Another hurdle cleared. Good luck with the visa appn. Rach
  10. Thanks - I think it was your posts I had read previously, so we were aware, and it was actually what stopped us from doing it. We still swing from doing a reccie visit to validate the visas to just going, and if we do the latter, we'll need to have sold up, etc, so the longer we have to do that, the better. So we'll stick with doing what we're told, when we're told (for now at least!) Rach
  11. Fantastic news!! Today should fly by (unlike the last 4 weeks!!). Have a great day Rach
  12. From the posts I have read, yes, that's all they need now. Amazing news - congrats on the CO! So you didn't get your de facto statements certified? Our agent says we must, which obviously means the people who have done them have to trail to the solicitors..... Anyway, looks like you'll be booking flights in no time! Rachael x
  13. Should finally have our visa lodged this week. Our agent has been on holiday, so been delayed by a week or so, not that we had all our stuff ready to upload anyway! Getting the SS so quickly and being rather more laid back than I should be about it all has meant I'm not so on the ball as I should be!! Suddenly more conscious of time limits and trying harder to get my act together, honest! After reading about that police check that has taken ages, I had even considered front loading, but decided that would be too efficient for me, so will concentrate on getting the visa lodged for now I reckon it will all happen when it is supposed to, so will cross each bridge as we come to it (and keep our fingers crossed). Where are you having your meds done? Rach x
  14. :biglaugh: Tee-hee!! Or should that be lol? (I'm still learning!) It will happen, eventually Rach x
  15. I'm glad to read it went better than you had expected. I think what some are forgetting is that this is YOUR life to lead. You have made a huge decision and not taken it lightly. You are doing this in the hope that you are going to give your children a better life, and a better balance for you all as a family. You are more than aware that your wife's dad is very poorly and how sad and disappointed they'll be feeling now that they know what's happening. Unless you are very cruel, this isn't something you do on a whim or just to see how loved ones deal with it. You have already considered all this, weighed up the pros and cons and decided this is what is best for YOUR family. Not sure how old you are, but with age limits taken into account, there is only a window of opportunity - we don't have forever to do this. We can't wait until our parents have passed away to make the move in order to avoid the upset. We have to do this now, whilst we are young enough to enjoy it. We love our parents, but have to acknowledge that they have made their choices in life and have lived most of their life. This is YOUR time and YOUR decision, and this should be respected, too. I love my mum very much. At 65 she isn't in the best of health and is unlikely to ever visit us when we do go. She adores our 2 daughters as they do her, but she knows we hope to offer them better chances and choices than they may be offered if we stay put. Her eyes well whenever it is mentioned, which I try to limit, but I am conscious that she may be lulled into a false sense of security if I stop talking about it altogether. I dread the day we leave, because we will be leaving her behind, but I am looking forward to it too, as it will be the start of a new chapter in our lives. If I'm honest, I'd like for her to come with us or join us later, but I don't think it will be possible. Even though I know this, the decision to move is still the RIGHT decision for us, in OUR opinion. I wish you much luck and happiness with your future plans. Rachael xxx
  16. Just been looking back over previous posts. They have, in general, been taking @ 10 working days. If you look on the 'visa lodged' thread, you can see some of the timescales on there. I have definitely read somewhere on here this week, of someone who has been waiting much longer - hopefully the exception to the rule... Good luck with it, anyway - you should be ok Rach x
  17. CONGRATULATIONS!!! Reading through other posts, it looks as though COs are being allocated quite quickly - just a matter of weeks, as opposed to the many months we had been advised it would take! So now to the next stage of your journey... Keep us all updated. Rachael
  18. Such wonderful news! Congratulations to you all Rachael x
  19. So sorry to hear your sad news. Thinking of you and sending our condolences. Rachael x
  20. :jiggy:Wonderful news! You'll be booking flights soon! Rachael x

    Hey Peeps :)

Your day will come! You have come this far despite all that has happened to you. Your day will definitely come! You will find there are plenty of people here, on PIA, who will support, help and advise you whenever you need it. I look forward to reading about your journey Rachael x
