  1. If you are going to become an Australian citizen then I would say it's a must to get an Australian passport - especially as, reading your previous posts, you intend to leave Australia as soon as you get citizenship, for a considerable period of time. I have been offered a two year extension on my contract so am staying here for a good while longer than I thought. Last September I had to pay for 4 new bio data uk passports which cost loads. Next September we have an 80th birthday party in the Uk to attend and I was trying to save money by not buying the Aussie passports. Thanks for your input.
  2. So the new citizenship visa would not go in the UK passport? Or more precisely as there are no longer 'stickers' I thought my UK passport number would be listed as Aussie citizen each time it was scanned and that would be enough?!??
  3. So once a citizen you have to leave Australia on an Aussie passport?
  4. Thank you but I wonder if this bit is really true? As an Australian citizen you must always leave and enter Australia on an Australian passport:huh:
  5. Hi, can anyone who has recently become a citizen tell me if I HAVE to get an Aussie passport or is it ok to still use the GB one till it expires? Thanks.
  6. Please see my PM. Thank you. Pommy 99
  7. Hi PIA's , Is it possible to take the citizenship test b4 submitting the citizenship application forms to save time? Thanks everyone.
  8. If you want your kids to have a decent professional future with good and varied job prospects don't come to Adelaide!
  9. Yes it's an automated error message because 2 years hasn't passed yet. I'm always looking for shortcuts with this sort of stuff but sorry to say you can't apply till the 2 years are up.
  10. Sorry there are no shortcuts. I did this a little while ago and you cannot apply before the 2 year anniversary. Get everything together (and there is a lot to gather) then have it all ready for the big date. Good luck.

Not for passports but for citizenship applications. (though probably the same) Anyone of you good people out there know a photo booth in the metro or Eastern Suburbs area? Thanks again.
  12. Thank you, for your reply. Now does anyone have an idea how long processing actually takes?
  13. HI, I wonder if anyone knows the answer to this ? (Please no guesses) On the citizenship application form it says you must be in the country for your application to be approved. Does this mean that after applying you can go on holiday while it is being processed? But makr sure you are back in OZ when you think it might be approved? Also if you plan to go abroad while it is being processed, does it count against you ie delay your approval? Thank you.
  14. Hi Christine, I'm from Bristol too, and BRFC fan. great news for Ollie this weekend!!
  15. Someone asks a question and lots of people chip in their unwanted opinions some of which are a disgrace. Not very good for the reputation of this site. Some should keep their unhelpful bigoted opinions for the pub.

    is this you

:)For good weather and ease of everyday life in Adelaide yes. However I earn much more in the UK and my kids would get a better education there ( and they attend private schools here). So we can't afford to stay here, so no.
  20. In 5 years Australia will be EXACTLY the same.
  21. I've got a big lunch on Anzac Day ( good for my fitness ) so could have done coffee in Norwood but don't have time to go south, sorry. It's great that you are having a BBQ. PLease keep me in the 'loop'. I'm keen to play !!!
  22. I'll start the ball rolling. How about we meet at Cibo in Norwood Parade on Anzac day 10am?
  23. I can do CPR, but need someone to be able to do it on me for when the excitement gets too much LOL.
