  1. Thank you for your kind reply. I am going to go back for a 'holiday' in 3 months so that might help me decide. Thanks again.
  2. I've been in Adelaide for 4 years and my advise is that the weather is great but other than that I think the Uk is better in many ways. I know lots of people on this forum with their own adjendas feel they neeed to justify being here by rubbishing the UK but your life sounds really good. I'm not going to say stay in the UK but why uproot and come here to start again when all is good there? Given the exchange rate I would seriously reconsider your thoughts on moving. Many people won't like what I have written here. Good luck.
  3. Is it a city, AWD or Elite?
  4. Seems a bit mad to contact someone so distant about whos good in Adelaide. I don't think he could know that info unless he lives here. I suggest you see whoever you have been well recommended to see after you check their qualifications.

Can't you find Stella on draught in Adelaide?
  7. Do-gooders or not people should be allowed to speak their truth on this forum without criticism. Say what you feel that's what it's all about. Good for you.
  8. are you really leaving, if so to live where next?
  9. Have done this route before and am doing it again in 4 weeks. What do you need to know?
  10. Thanks mate, i appreciete the thought.
  11. Thanks for your reply. I think the laid back atmosphere is good but if kids grow up being too laid back they will not be sharp or competitive enough to compete for jobs should they travel outside SA. I 'work' in sport with lots of SA guys aged 18-30, lovely people, very laid back, never on time etc. Would i give them a job....not very likely. When you have kids please remember that the qualifications they receive in SA are not well regarded elsewhere in Oz. If they apply for a job in Sydney their application will be at the bottom of the pack with the others from SA. That's not very pretty reading I know but its fact.
  12. No I can't vote. But I do care. Good point about the state pollies !!!!!
  13. but you can't really knock him for getting us through the recession so well!!! I think you will find that China got SA throught the recession due to demand for resources. NOTHING to to with any politician.
  14. So he wins again and SA is sentenced to another 4 years of stagnation and moving sideways while other states advance. We are the backwater and will stay that way. Time to leave.
  15. Does anyone know if I can prepay to have more than a 23kg baggage allowance before my date of travel??
  16. Dhhhhhhhhh let me try to write that question in a way a human can understand (sorry).... Does anyone know if I can prepay to have more than a 23kg baggage allowance before my date of travel??
  17. Sorry about your bike, I hope you find it, but the post is really for people who haven't left the uk yet.
  18. Quota time for sure. I'm sure there are good cops but there are also bad ones. The reason the drug pushing bikies are still here is bacause (allegedly) the cops are in on the spoils. They are corrupt so you got off lightly!
  19. Virgin 23 kg I think !! Does anyone know if you can pre pay to up that limit before you fly ie NOT at the airport.?
  20. Pommy99

    SA, sell it to me!!!

With those occupations you and your family should be fine.

  22. Thats a real shame. You love Adelaide and despite both working have to go back for financial reasons. The Aussie govt should think about this.
  23. I am wondering why people come here. I think most leave the uk because they have grown to dislike it one way or another and believe OZ is a good (better)alternative. Parhaps I'm wrong. :huh:Why did you decide to up sticks and jump on the plane??
  24. Well that's an interesting comment. I am wondering why people come here. I think most leave the uk because they have grown to dislike it one way or another and believe OZ is a good (better) alternative. But I do very much agree with the person who called the daily mail the daily inflammer !!!!
  25. I earn about $114 000 per year. My rent is $21000 and after 40% tax I'm left with $55800. At todays rate that's £654 a week. From that take away running ONE car, shopping, Foxtel (minimum package) eating dinner out once a week, a few coffees, one lunch out a week (I don't drink), household bills. Things feel tight. I have to look at the cost of everything and feel I live like like a student. Oh my job by the way....I am a doctor, a GP, not a junior doctor. Think about it and do your sums carefully.
