1. Hi Tapas, no news yet. It's been only 4 weeks. Will update the forum when we hear from them.
2. Hi Rory, All the required details are available on their website http://www.immi.gov.au/e_visa/general-skilled-migration.htm#b We started our application here and saved it. Submitted the application the day we completed 2 yrs. https://www.ecom.immi.gov.au/visas/app/uu?form=GSMA Go to the below link to revisit the Form until you submit it. You will not be able to access it after you submit it and then you get 28 days to attached the supporting documents. You will not be able to attach any documents until you have submitted the application. https://www.ecom.immi.gov.au/visas/attachment/start.do?attachType=VISA_APPLICATION&group=travel Hope the above helps. Good luck with your visa.
3. My mum and brother will be visitng us soon and want to know where to to take them? Any ideas appreciated!
4. Hi Fahi, I have never noticed any difference except healthcare. We were not entitled for Medicare so we had private insurance. It was not too bad. School fees are the same as locals so was good. If you have older kids then Tertiary education may be a problem as you have to pay international fees. With regards to jobs it was never an issue for me. I got my first job soon after I started looking for one. But some jobs require PR holders.
5. We submitted ours on 2/1/13 with greatest difficulty! It was so slow and kept on getting technical n error messages!!! It took me almost whole day to submit the form!!! But now we have attached all the required docs as per the checklist. I was told by others that we do medicals on request and not required for 887 visa. Let's see how it goes. We got police checks done before Christmas holidays.
6. Thank you & congrats, Wijaya. We have already got the Police certificates before Christmas. We will wait for medical request as many applicants were not asked for it. Let's see how long ours take!!
7.

We have filled the form couple of days ago and saved it - will press the SUBMIT button tomorrow! All the documents are ready to be attached soon after. Would love to hear from others who will be submitting the form in the same week or month. I know it's going to be an anxious wait for all of us so wish you all the best. Mari

8. Hi, We are on 475 visa and will be completing 2 years end of this year. We are in the process of preparing the required documents for the 887 visa. Would like to hear from you if you have recently applied for this visa or granted one. Thanks Mari
9. Hi, We have been living in a furnished rental for the last 1 1/2 years. Never really looked at the furniture prices. But now we are looking to move into an unfurnished rental in 4 weeks. What is the best way to get the basics at a reasonable cost? Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Mari
10. I learnt driving only a couple of months ago and just completed 75hrs. I am now getting ready for the road test. I took 12 lessons with an instructor and completed compulsory 75hrs with family and friends. You may not need that many Hours with an instructor. The rules are the same for teenagers and adults but if you are over 25yrs then you can apply for a P license after 6 months. The details of the tests are given in the links by other members. I found RAA site was more user friendly. Do let me know if you need anything specific. All the best.
11. Hi, Just wanted to check if you have any info or experience as to how an adult migrant who has recently obtained a Learner License can make up the compulsary 75 hours to qualify for a P license. It seems an instructor can give driving lessons but he can't do the compulsary hours?! Appreicate any info. Mari
12. Hi Season's greetings! I have been using iPad for more than a year but now I want to switch to a simple Ebook reader. What type of Ebook reader are you using? Any suggestions? Many thanks Mari
13. Hi, We are working on a project and need to print more than 50 digital photos. I have seen booths in Target and places but never had to use them. Any suggestions? Many thanks Mari
14. Hi I am thinking of getting some revision books for school holidays. I haven't checked the bookshops yet. Where do you get these here? I looked at amazon.com but know that postage could cost much more than the books! Anyone know any local online sites for books? Many thanks Mari

Buying fish

Hi Just would like to know where you buy fish? Thanks
19. Thanks so much for the PMs, suggestions and advice. Really appreciate it. Also tks so much for the feedback on my blog:) I try to post regularly but time is the constrain. Between taking care of a big family and looking for a job I get little time for myself and even less for blogging!!!! Hehehe It's been 3 months since we moved here and still no luck with a job and I have never stayed home this long so getting a bit desperate to go out and talk to people. Mari
20. Gloomy day!!! Missing home v much and there aren't many from our country here. Indians & Sri Lankans are our closest neighbors and lot of similarities in culture, food and many others. We are in Melrose Park, anyone around?
21. We are on a temp visa and have private insurance with Medibank. We took our son to the dentist at All Care Centre on Edward Street and he charged us as follows: 1) Oral examination - $45.50 2) scaling / Cleaning - $90.50 3) Adhesive Restoration (filling 1 tooth) - $142.00 Total bill was $278 but we had to pay only $124 and $154 was paid by medibank. Hope the above helps
22. Food? Interesting, pls tell me more! Tks
23. I am in a rented house so wouldn't be able to install anything at this moment. Thanks for the info though. We have heaters in the house and electric blankets in all the beds. May have to buy the other things.
24. This may be a very stupid question for some but hope to get some info.. I come from a country which has just one season - summer (well almost!!!) except for the occasional rain in June / July. I have been living here for 3 months now and enjoyed the sun. But soon the weather will change (hopefully not?!). So wondering how others get ready for the cold weather. Thanks.
