  1. We used Excess International who sent a chap round who was really informative and up to date with customs who were A1. They came theypacked they left. The stuff arrived with one breakage, a small picture mirror and everything else was in tact and present. No problems with this side the contractors were polite and even came back a few days later and collected the rubbish. Advice would be have them all over and get them pricing against each other, Then stay away from the bad ones and select the best from the rest. Easy really and the last thing you should worry about is the shipping, worry about the little fingers checking your stuff out when it arrives...

Jim, Thanks for your visit a couple of weeks ago and we are looking forward to hearing from you soon. Highly recommend Jim Scott for your Mortgage advice and to help you polish of your PG Tips
  5. May be worth a try and if no help. Consider going to the Quack Oatmeal powder is a useful home treatment for getting relief from prickly heat. Add little amount of oatmeal powder in a bath tub and stir it well. Take a dip in the bath tub, this will give fast relief from inflammation and soothes the skin. - You can also try this simple home remedy to get relief from inflammation and prickly heat. Take cotton cloth or sponge and soak in cold water. Keep it over the affected area until all the water is not absorbed away. Do this 2-3 times a day. - Ice cubes are another easy home remedy for treating prickly heat caused due to hot and humid temperature. Rub small ice cubes over the red bulges. The cool ice cubes will reduce the inflammation and will also puncture the red swellings. - Apply gram flour (besan) paste over the infected area. Cover the red bulges with this paste and allow it to dry. Wash it off with cold water. This will help in removing all the dead skins and relieves from inflammation. - Dry the barks of banyan tree and grind it into find powder. Apply it over the infected area. This also gives fast relief from prickly heat. - You can also apply an herbal or non-perfumed talcum powder after bath. This will help in absorbing extra moisture from the body and protect from prickly heat. Repeat this process 4-5 times a day. - Fuller's earth (multani mitti) is useful home remedy for prickly heat. Make multani mitti pack by adding 4-5 tablespoon of it with 2-3 tablespoon of rose water and plain water to make a thick paste

  8. Having read the post, I am trying to locate a suitable place near to PORT NOARLUNGA that can offer a parking bay for a boat. I am trying too locate a parking space for a 7.23 (including Trailer) ideally under cover.. Willing to pay a mutually arranged peppercorn rent for the privilege, and more than happy to take out on occasions to make the venture worth while. Not sure what the going rate would be, but want a yearly figure or one off payment...Pommie rates would be great!! Unable to park at my house due to steep drive and not sure if the trailer would tip over and drop the boat.. Any help would be appreciated and taken... Please feel free to drop me a PM//
  9. have a safe tip back Motherland, and say hello to al Gordon for me, before he gets booted out of office. Maybe then the UK can start to recover and close the bloody doors! I am looking for a cheap lawn mower, if you have one our leaving behind!!!
  10. Check the transformer ( low voltage) may be worth getting an exchange from CLIPSAL and they usually are plug in.. Save you a call and a bill!!! These are wired in to the lighting circuit with the down-lighters and placed up or inside the roof space or ceiling... If the transformer is a cheap version they can be over worked and burn out, making the light U/S. Worth a try, and worth turning the power off before you stick ya fingers in!!!
  11. Colonades has a little more choice, which is about 15 min away from where you guys are stopping. Travel South towards Port Noarlunga I think its sign posted... When all gets too much call in at the Deep Blue cafe in Moana and have a flat white.. If you get served by an English lad, Its are spawn so say hello.. Shopping cost here is some what hard to swallow. You will find the cheaper places, so the other half tells me..
  12. Wekll if its offered , I would take it. That posting hardly ever comes up on UK conversion courses. I do know someone who got a lateral and likes the feel of it. If you get the choice and would like to talk to them regarding the area, let me know. OZ is not like the UK you can livewhere you want, just make sure the neighbours are not desirable. You really are not coming to the inner city's. Crooks say I did and the kids move on when you tell them to. Do your research and you will be fine... One constant is the job is gash where ever youare, so dont expect a fanfare and all will be sweet. Weathers nice.lol
  13. Still collect and still got 10K, not sure for how long thou.lol
  14. SAPOL release postings at the very last minutte. Be careful not to jump into rentals and buying houses in areas miles away from where you will be posted. They do not like to change the postings and HR is not what it is in the UK. The old motto is, " You knew what you were doing when you signed up, get on with it". Having been in that position and still in it, some 15 months later I can tell you the travel to work on ashift turn is not very good. It can take me over 1,20 min to get to work and after a long set of seven nights, its it not good for soul. Wait and see what posting sthere are and then do your reserach. The milage over here is massive and it aint like driving from Sunderland to the other side of the tunnel.. Be careful what you ask for, as you may just regret it.... If I am correct postings down SOuth are very few and far between. Well impossible to get. There will be postings to the Country spots as it takes a different type of person to work out in the dust... Some love it most will hate it.. Its your choice but make a wise one, as SAPOL will not be more than likely be unhelpful in changing it!!! ENjoy...
  15. Ant, Good luck witht he move from the UK to SAPOL. Advice would give you is , "think before you offer Country". Having had the chance to go Country we went and had a look, its certainly not the Cotswolds and nothing like emerdale. The difference between what you think it will be like and what it is, is worlds apart. Take your time to explore and try to hold off on saying Ill go Country. My advice would be ask for metro as its easier to change to Country than the other way round. At least your not then trapped into a posting that the wife and kids my not like. Largs is a strange place and not sure what your background is, but its 10 weeks and then you can hit the floor running..lol ALl the best its a roller coaster of a ride Good luck
  16. As was pointed out by others, everybody has different expereinces here with SAPOL. Its not until you try to expand on your own that people become agitated and defensive. If we weere all the same andnever had any different opinion, then we would all be pretty boring and robotic. I like most who have left the UK to come to OZ for a better lifestyle for my family. I Have found most of the adventure positive. In life there will always be things you wish you had done or on the other hand, things youdid not do. SAPOL like the UK 42 forces has got its problems and maybe in time they will work out the shifts are terrible. If this was changed then my choice would be a 100% correct and my lifestyle would be spot on. ITs pretty difficult to have a better quality of life when you and your family never see eeach otther due to work.. I did not come here for a career either, I left it in the UK.. If you are lucky enough to work in (or drop in) a nice littel spot working Monday to friday with weekends off. Well good on ya. Its not that easy here in SAPOl. It does happen but remember your back on the bottom of the ladder and it does take some time to climb. This is not a winging pomm, Its a realistic one. So before you draw back your arrow. Have a look in the mirror and you may see you and not me!! We all have something to offer. OH and have a great New year and enjoy the stress pressure and the adventure of coming to another country.. If you need any help or have any questions, feel free to ask..
  17. Along with It never happens in SA and of course"We never promised you anything". Its gash here and its gash back in the UK. One way out and no way back.. So enjoy the ride andcome on down!!! ;-) You can always go back minus the UK pension
  18. Give ya 10K cash, and we will collect..
  19. We find not eating cuts are bills down to a level we can cope with. We both look a lot thinner than we did inthe UK, so who needs coles when you have the sea.. Fish are free and so is seaweed. Its is rather expensive here thou.. Not sure we get what we did in the Uk, but we decided that a country full ofpeople who have no regard for the Union jack the people who live there and the society who live near them. Oz wouldbe better even if we are starving.. At least you dont get cut off with a trolley by a group of Polish workers at Coles, you used to at Tescos. I do think Ozzies get ripped off thou and just put up with it.. Bring on the revolution
  20. Having been where you are I did find the Forum very helpful. However be careful not to be drawn in by the positivie vibe that is given out onthere by numerous long standing members. Its not all roses and the job is not what they tell you on the induction day. Consider the reasons for coming and look into all the aspects properly. Then you like most of the Ukers will not be let down by SAPOL. For all those who are coming in2010, enjoy the training and hopefully the course members will leave the UK ethos at home and all get on.. Enjoy the ride
  21. Tyke, Could you ask him to contacme as I am alsoin the process of applying for SA police and would like to get his thoughts on the job out there!!!! Regards Ratters

    Why and what ?

Hi Both, I like you am at that stage too. Due in London on the 23 for final and fitness test! I have some contacts over in SA who are helping me get past the scary stages.. Long way to go yet but you must give it a go!!! The Uk like we all know has very little to offer, and it is getting worse!! I am sure you will do just fine, if you get the offer and visa.. I hear the job is slow and the work less stressful. The people dig Uk cops and enjoy being locked up by us... The wages are crap but the lifestyle is a lot beter.. If I can help you anymore email me at d_rathband@hotmail.com We can maybe chat direct.. Fingers x we are going!!! Darren and ANgie
