  3. We are off to the UK for Xmas and have a 21 hour stop over at Singapore - so we figured we may as well leave the airport and travel into the city and stay in a hotel there rather than the airport. any one any else done this and if so where did you stay? Have to say I am more excited about time in Singapore than 2 weeks in cold UK! Thanks in advance Sarah
  4. Sorry Natalie, position filled, we had over 200 applications! Bonkers! Good luck job hunting.
  5. Hi everyone We are an accountants based in Christies Beach, looking for a full time admin/receptionist to join our team Ideally we would like someone with admin/reception experience, within an accountants would be an advantage. If you are interested or know anyone that would be, please send your/their resume to Thanks Sarah
  6. Thanks Morris we have decided to go down the refund road, we did look at flying to Melbourne and getting a flight from there, but I would stress on the day that the internal flight would be cancelled or delayed and we would miss the Malaysian flight. we then figured like you said it would be cheaper to go 22nd and husband to loose 2 days pay, but then having made that decision we have been told by 3 individual people that Malaysian airlines are technically bankrupt and it is only their government that is holding them up. so rather than rebook with them and then maybe having to go through this all again before December we have decided to cancel and get refund. I have managed to find a flight with Singapore that is $600 more than what we paid with Malaysia and my lovely dad is going to foot the difference. hopefully the refund will be through asap!! thanks for all the advice and suggestions, had you not put this on here I would still be none the wiser as although they said I should have received an email I still haven't! Sarah
  7. Just read this and we are booked with Malaysia, flight was leaving 24th December and arriving in London 5.30am Xmas day in time for pressies around the tea and big Xmas dinner, was so excited! BUT that flight as of today no longer exists and we have been put on a later flight, hence missing Xmas day and arriving late Boxing Day! Not happy, we were only going for 13 days as it was, so that way is even less time! A refund I asked? Yes they replied but can take 3 months to process so we are now $6000 short to re book with someone else until the refund is processed! So peeeeeed off!

  9. There is the Big 4 on Sturt Road , which has caravans and lodges and is within walking distance of Marion Westfield and the train station, may find that a cheaper option than a hotel and at least the kids will be entertained with the play area etc.
  10. Hey snifter! Its a small park, but we have O'Halloran Hill reserve behind us so we are surrounded - it is beautiful, though we have the occasional snake to contend with, but all worth it for the view! it is amazing at night as well with all the lights. I sit on our front veranda most weekends with a cold glass of wine and a book, perfect!
  11. The view from our bedroom window which is at the front of the house so we have the same view from our lounge - it is this view that before even seeing the inside of the house made me want to buy it!! an amazing view to wake up to!

Keegan, he is at Inkaholics in Christies Beach, my husband has had 3 by him (when he was at Lampin Ink) but you may have a long wait as I think he has a waiting list. There are some very dodgy ones so choose carefully!
  13. FOR SALE - black leather sofa - 3 years old - very good condition - Blackwood area. $450.00 Apologies on the upside down pictures but cant work out to turn them round.
  14. Okay, having been persuaded by our then 17 year old that if we purchased him a bike he would use it to commute to and from his part time job at Marion,we parted with our hard earnt cash last June and bought him a BMX and accessories! Having used it no more than 5 times he decided that biking back to our home in Seacombe Heights (Heights being the operative word and of course he wouldn't listen when advised on how hard it would be!) was too much like hard work and opted to scrounge lifts until he became the proud owner of his P's!! So the bike has just sat in the garage going nowhere! it is in immaculate condition due to the lack of use and we have an as new helmet and flashing led lights for it. I have attached the receipt so that you can see the date and cost of purchase and we would like $250 for everything or $220 if you are just interested in the bike. Thanks for looking Sarah
  15. My son went there when we arrived in 2011, we had friends here who had a rental property that we rented and Seaview was the catchment school. my priority with my son was for him to settle as at 16 it was a hard age to emigrate and I can't fault the school for helping him settle. we had a few problems with maths after Marcus had been there for a few months, and within 24 hours we had a meeting with the head of year, the school counsellor and his maths teacher and a solution was achieved. marcus was heavily into dance and drama and even though at the time we didn't realise Seaview excels at these subjects and he was a very happy student and threw himself into all dance and drama productions and made some great friends. okay it isn't the best academic school, but I don't think Marcus would have come out with a better result if he had gone to somewhere that was, I do believe that part of the onus lays with the child and even in the UK Marcus hated the academic subjects. arrange for a tour of the school - we did and liked the feel of the school and the staff and pupils we met. Hope this helps Sarah
  16. The laws here are bonkers sometimes, my sons car was also hit in a Coles car park quite badly, the trolley collector witnessed it and when the other driver drove off (an old woman) they took her number plate details, paged my son over the tannoy in the shop and handed them to him stating she was willing to be a witness in court. My son took the details to the police and said that there was absolutely nothing they could do as,it was his word against hers even with a witness! I was disgusted and figured that is why so many drive away from accidents without stopping as there is no comeback! But reading this now think the police officer he saw obviously couldn't be arsed with the hassle of report etc.
  17. My son like yours rear ended a car and we too thought the rego covered any repairs on the other persons car, and have found out the expensive way! It looked like he had done little damage but 6 months after the accident ( we thought they had decided rather stupidly to not get it repaired!) he got an invoice for $4200 with 7 days to pay! I disputed it, asked why we were never given the chance to get independent quotes but was advised thats not how it works in Australia. After asking around and looking into the cost of car repairs here we decided it would be more expense and hassle to contest so again from advise offered them $20 a week which they gladly accepted telling him it was a pleasure to have a youngster offer to pay because the majority they have to chase for the debt. Why has he got to go to court though? Same situation as my sons and other than have to report it to the police and receive a caution for causing an accident there was no further dealings with the police. sarah
  18. Hey Doug, thanks for the reply, I would love it but alas it is too tall to go where I wanted it to! Will try persuade the OH that it will be fine nothing a saw can't sort but don't hold your breath!
  19. Hi Doug how tall is the freezer? Sarah
  20. Wow blossom that is impressive!! You should go into business! hope Harry is recovering Diane.
  21. Thanks for the good wishes well finally got Harley home yesterday, he is not the same cat at the moment, still cant walk properly and has spent the whole time hiding in the robe, hasnt eaten and is very timid. Hoping he recovers to being the same cheeky cat he was. I think there will always be the arguement between cat and dog owners, we have one of each and like some have said we keep the cat in from 6pm every night. I hope your cat is okay Dianne and i do hate the aussie feeling towards cats...my friends cat on the same day Harley got bitten got killed by their next door neighbours dog which roams the street during the day and got into their garden, it died an awful death and she is devestated but the owner of the dog werent bothered. by the way we have renamed Harley to 4K!!!
  22. Folks please be aware of your dogs and cats, my 11month cute cat Harley is at present at Adelaide animal hospital where he has been since last night after collapsing In front of us. He had, we found out once there been bitten by a snake and his deterioration was rapid. He is completely paralysed and has a catheter fitted, they had to give him two vials of anti venom as the amount of venom in his blood was off the scale. He is probably, we hope and pray going to make a full recovery. The vet said there has been a crazy amount of snake bite cases this year, and has advised us to keep Harley an indoor cat as he is obviously a hunter! cant thank the staff at the hospital enough they have been lovely. On another note please get pet insurance, we have for our dog but had never got around to adding Harley and so far have had to part with a shocking $3200, and yes I'm sure all those that don't have pets think we are crazy but he is a part of our family and we could not have walked away having done nothing to help him.
