Can someone confirm about the waiting times for the parenting payments after getting 887 ?

Great If this is the case then 887 can be granted to people who are currently outside Australia which makes it easy for them to Travel to Australia ...

Unfortunately u can't do much here. Keep trying to get an exception to travel to Australia, even if u get pre-grant then also u can't travel to Australia. As far as ur pre-grant is concerned, I think it should not take more time as they are processing the files really fast...

No need to update the Medicare as new cards will be delivered to ur registered address if you already have interim medicare cards Yes you need to register for Centrelink. Call centrelink and ask them for a linking code which u can use to link Centrelink with myGov account. Not sure if bank may be interested in the visa types until u r taking any home loan etc.

I would suggest you to wait until he is back... They are clearing backlog so there won't be much backlog when ur husband is back. I think they will open borders by end of this year but u can always apply for exception which are being processed slowly .....

We too have exact same story.... We are IT professionals and before our agent convinced us for 489, we had no clue about this visa. And he gave up 2 options with 189/190 wait for 1-2 years or with 489 u should be in Australia in few months and we agreed for 489 as we were not aware of any restrictions of this visa and our agent told that 2 years rent receipts and 1 year work is what it need to convert it to PR. I regretted each day when I was struggling for initial months here in Adelaide but we are now much better position and have decent jobs. And I hope PR grant is not that far...
