  1. Frustrating, yes. But apart from the fact that the skills assessment done for the VISA has a time limit, it's not for work purposes and states that on the certificate they give you. It's a way of making more money: if they can charge you for something else, they will. Worth it though!!
  2. I understand that - it's hard to choose a place without seeing it. Hopefully being there will make it easier. That's why we're keeping a wide search! Shared accommodation sounds a good idea too, seen some of it in my searches. Someone who can help you with the local area is a great idea!! All the best for it all, almost there! Keep thinking optimistic, it's far less stressful that way
  3. That sounds good, fingers crossed!! I'm the same, I'd book a ticket and go now - been ready for a long time! We're looking somewhere along the coast, Seacliff area roughly. Maybe a bit inland but fairly close to beach. Open to a wide search and just finding the right house!! Depends on schools partly, as we're looking at both primary and high schools... You??
  4. Yes, I completely understand!! We are hoping to move out about Sept time after selling the house so we can settle our eldest into school before the end of term. What about you??
  5. This is the hardest part of the road, the waiting at the end. It'll be worth it and it will all be over (in a good way, of course )!!! Enjoy the gym, sounds a good idea
  6. Just so you don't get worked up (like I did), once our PC's were uploaded (the last of our docs) it took 2.5 weeks for a response. All the best, not long now
  7. Check for more detail on other thread 'Medicals???' but my BMI is 36-37 and our VISA's just been granted with no issues there. I had the same worry. I think if your medical shows other concerns that might be considered weight-related that is more the issue, eg. diabetes. Drink LOTS of water the day before... Good Luck!! http://www.pomsinadelaide.com/forum/adelaide-migration-issues/29828-medicals.html
  8. We went to Medmigration at Bridgewater in Manchester for ours. It took about 1.5 hours and was fairly straightforward - they were quiet that day though. My daughter thought it the funniest having to do a urine sample - she'd never done one before. Our results were uploaded and cleared in days. All the best!!
  9. Thanks very much. All the best for your meds. They weren't as scary as I expected them to be. Hopefully you'll have a response soon and won't have to wait too long!! Maybe see you on the other side...
  10. Thank you both very much! Yes, champagne in fridge for tonight - then off out to celebrate. That's very true Mel, it costs soooooo much - guess it proves you have to really want it!! I've been checking Hubbie's emails throughout the night! Came at 2:15 this morning! We have done the 'donkey work' for the move and had quotes for shipping and estate agents. We are ready to instruct the estate agents now See y'all when we get there!! We're hoping Sept/ Oct depending on house sale... xxx
  11. AT LAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Visa Grant Notice came this morning!!! Was beginning to wonder if it'd ever happen. See you there next year Anna and Mel Thanks to everyone who helped with all the questions and answers!
  12. CONGRATULATIONS TO YOU ALL!! Not heard anything yet, hopefully we'l hear by the end of the week. I hate this waiting, checking all the time. I don't know if anything can go wrong now. We meet all the points so can't see any reason not too! All the best with everything, hopefully see you there soon Will update as soon as I hear!
  13. This waiting is a killer... Have any of you herd anything yet? I'm hoping we hear soon and as we all got CO's roughly the same time we SHOULD hear a similar time too ... aaaaaaarggggggghhhhhhhhh

    Hi every body

We've had a quote from Pickfords. Just going through the 4 companies we got quotes from to decide who to use. The lass who came was really lovely!
  15. Our Police Checks took a couple of weeks to come through. It might be worth getting them done sooner rather than later or you'll pay double to get them quicker Good Luck. Hannah
  16. Keep checking online too - even when I know they're asleep over there... I keep re-clculating our points too, just to make sure & they keep coming out the same - how daft is that?!! I have looked at other people's timelines and VISAs seem to be being finalised about 3 weeks after medicals... so hopefully not too long! All the best guys. Very excited. Got the champagne in the fridge ready...
  17. Our CO was appointed in about 2 weeks and at the same time we were asked to get medicals and police checks done. Police checks took about 2 weeks (allowing for Bank hols at Easter). We booked our meds and got them done quite quick. Take a look at the list of medical centres on the website and ring a couple. Do a bit of research now. Oe told us we could be looking up to 2 weeks for an appointment and it could be a week for results. We booked ours a week ahead (Medmigration in Manchester) and it took them a day to get the results through. All pretty quick atm but do your research now so you can get everything sorted straight away!
  18. Congrats, that's brill news. All the best with your new life.
  19. Our police checks came through today so we're awaiting a decision like you now... Almost there. Good luck
  20. What does it mean on your Application Status when it says Health requirements finalised? How long does it usually take from when medicals and Police checks are submitted for them to give a decision? What happens next?
  21. We are shipping our 14 year old cat. We have decided to use TransFur Services (part of PSS removals) - they have been amazingly helpful and very patient with my endless questions. She's ready to go now, even if we're not!!! Not completely sure for dogs but they need their standard annual Vaccinations as well as the rabies one. They need to be Microchipped (apparently before the Rabies) then their Rabies needs to be cleared. Then get a passport and just prior to leaving they need worming and de-ticking etc. As far as Quarantine goes and flights - check out a carrier (check out the one I mentioned above and also got quotes from AirPets and Airsupply too) We're going with TransFur due to helpfulness and cost! Hope this helps Good Luck!! Hannah
  22. I'll second, Third the suggestions above - go see an agent. Would highly Recommend 'Emigration Group' in Chester - they are Fantastic. We had a consultation with them although decided we would do it ourselves. Thinking of you and hope all works out well

  25. Hi Hannah, All the very best with your move, I am sure everything will be fine My eldest, Abigail is 10 in August. We are hoping to be out in Sept/ Oct too. She is anxious about the move - about making friends really and settling in. We are looking at somewhere coastal south f Adelaide but we have friends in Adelaide Hills so plan to stay near Adelaide-ish. Take care and don't worry! It'll be an amazing adventure Hannah
