1. Hi, I don't think there is much else - just make sure you check through the document checklist on the DIAC website to get all of them ready asap and apply online as it's much quicker. Our CO was appointed in 2 weeks! I'd recommend the Medmigration Clinic for medicals if you are anywhere near Manchester. They were brilliant - Dr Smith was great with our 2 year old who can be quite wary of strangers and put our anxious 9 year old at ease too ! There are 11 Doctors on the panel list in the UK and 5 of them are Spire hospitals which are more expensive. We paid about £670 for 4 of us (2 adults & 2 children under 11). Hope this helps Good luck and hopefully see you there one day

Guilt

I completely understand this, my Mum died when I was young and my Dad has quite advanced MS. I have siblings but that doesn't help feelings of guilt at leaving him. Our girls are my husbands parents only grandchildren and although he isn't an only child he has a better relationship with them than his sister. We are both feeling some guilt at moving away but as a few people have said above you have to think why you are doing this - we are doing it for the good of our children and our family and it helps us get through any of this Good luck, it WILL be worth it in the end!!
3. Thanks for that - I was wondering when the VISA had to be validated by! Very helpful
4. That was our thought! Good luck to you too Maybe see you out there at some point!
5. Had an email from them saying that they are outstanding but NOT requested at this time. Good luck with yours Leeds1877. It's a long road but will be worth it in the end
6. I know what you mean. I just wish they'd be more obvious with what they need you to do. I don't wanna book them before we need coz it gives longer at the end, doesn't it?! Aaaaaaargh!
7. I don;t wanna get them done until we're absolutely supposed to. Does this mean it's a request coz we don;t have a CO appointed yet? Have emailed DIAC hoping for a response tomo
8. Anyone here applied online AND know what it means when your application says;

'Health requirements outstanding' with this in the message box:

'You and/or your dependant(s) are required to undergo a medical and/or X-Ray. Further information about what is required, for each applicant included in this application, is displayed on the Application Status Page.' Also says on the docs page; Please provide a 'Certificate of no criminal record' from all countries that you have lived in for one year or more in the past ten years. Please refer to the Form 'Character Requirements Penal Clearance Certificate' I can't seem to find any more information. Should I contact DIAC to ask - don't wanna book and find it's too early?
9. As far as I am aware you don't have any work conditions restricting your ability to apply for Citizenship. Take a look at this; http://www.citizenship.gov.au/citizenshipwizard/ which may be of help. And this; http://www.citizenship.gov.au/applying/how_to_apply/ Failing that you might have to contact the DIAC. Hope that helps and all the best!
10. Altho it says on the DIMI website that colour originals don't need to be certified you can scan the original, we got them all done just to be on the safe side so we weren't asked again. You need to have the copy certified on the front of the document and scan it all in as one piece. All our copies were certified and I scanned in A4 sheets - photocopied all docs onto A4 and signed on the extra space even if the originals were smaller like passport data page. Hope this helps - did take a while to scan and upload them all!
11. You have to upload them they won't accept copies through the post if you apply online. It's really straightforward and you have 28 days to add the docs. We did it last week, was easy! Good luck!
12. Oooh, that's very exciting. It's all up to them now... We submitted ours at the weekend as we had to await a couple of extra documents (£ouch!) and we send our ref to SA for them to confirm... Now a waiting game as you say, good luck and hope to see you on the other side!

Cat question

We had missed last years jabs for our cat. Our vet said she would just need them done again with a booster 1 month later. She's due the boosters in 2 weeks now. She's had her Rabies and been chipped also but the vet wouldn't do that & her annual jabs at the same time. Hope that helps?
14. I'm sadly still in the UK, have used O2, Virgin & Vodafone. I would rate Virgin best for coverage - I always seemed to be able to get coverage about almost anywhere. Go for a 3G phone tho coz you get better coverage with them anyhow. I also found Virgin to be the best with deals & costs. I think you can only do online through them now though! Hope that helps? As for phones there are so many on the market it is really difficult to say what to avoid. I will say though that ones with QWERTY keypads are quite a pain to use - literally (my fingers ache after a while texting and stuff). Touch-screens seem to be the way now. Galaxy by Samsung seems to be quite popular... Just have a look online - depends what she'll use it for too. I got mine through CarPhone Warehouse - take a look at their website for info.
15. That sums up very well what I was trying to say (badly). I hope there isn't a problem, I'm pretty sure there aren't any issues related to my weight. I had a Preg Diabetes check 2 years ago which came back clear, when I weighed a lot more. I just don't want to have any extra tests over the standard ones due to cost & time if nothing else! Good luck with your move!
16. CONGRATS! That's a HUGE step, won't be long now That is great, 4 weeks is no time. Won't be long 'til we're all there sunning it and living the life Thanks - it's my Hubby's skills we're going under so he got 9 in the test. Really proud of him Laying all the docs out sounds like a good idea. We're gonna have to upload all our docs to the computer so it might take us a little longer to complete - form online is finished tho Yes, sounds like they've got your details right if they've taken your cash! You should get the TRA ref soon then to give to SA for SS! All systems go, yes Meds next - we looked at that last night. We might have to travel for the best deal which is ok, sure the girls'd like a mini break right now VERY EXCITING!!
17. Where do I find a list of medical doctors? There are only 11 in the UK on the IMMI website. Are there any others or do they give them to you when you are sent for them? We are about to submit out 176 application but understand it could be 4 weeks later we're requested for medicals. Anyone have any ideas? - Just looked further on the IMMI Webpage and it says you must choose an eHealth Dr from the list as of Nov 2011 so I guess that answers my question... Thanks anyhow!
18. I was told that being overweight COULD mean you incur extra medical costs through being required to take more medicals exams. It would only be if it flagged up a condition causing it that could stop/ prevent you getting a VISA. Good Luck
19. We're gonna submit ours online (coz we wanna get there asap) once we have put all our supporting docs on computer. What made you choose to do a paper copy? When applying online, it gives you a TRA ref at time of application. (I'm assuming they take out the fee as soon as you apply coz then there's no turning back .) Yeah, I'd heard 4 weeks too. Eeek. Won't be long now! We can't go out before mid-Aug coz we've had to Rabies vaccinate our cat! After then, it's all down to the house sale... Hopefully see you there next year
20. We had our Sponsorship Application Approved on Wed. VISA is now ready to go in, just checking thru the docs. How long are VISAs taking atm?
21. Oooh, we're getting very excited. Things seem to be moving really smoothly and quickly eeeeek! This is all sounding VERY promising!
22. I'm very interested in this too. We're hoping to be out by next year too, be good to get work asap! Hannah
23. In June we started the process of applying for migration to South Australia. We have a completed skills application (Primary Teacher) and my husband sat the IELTS test (very successfully with a score of 9!) Having completed the sponsorship application and submitted the supporting docs we are now awaiting a response from SA whenever it arrives... (We are applying for a 176) We are now completing the VISA application and we hope to be submitting the papers long before the new process comes into play in July. Am I being too optimistic thinking we could be there Sept/ Oct 2012?? We are very excited - been planning this for 6 years... Dd1 is very much looking forward to it but Dd2 is oblivious at 2! Thanks a lot and good luck to y'all!
24. If you apply for ss from a state you will already have stated to that State that you will LIVE AND WORK in that State for 2 years. Yes, it is a permanent VISA but you ONLY have the freedom to live and work wherever AFTER 2 years! That is one of the prerequisites of a SS VISA! Hope this helps Hannah
