Anyone lived in Brisbane

Hi, wondering if anyone here has lived in brisbane, in particular the birkdale area, i have some friends moving over here next year and there looking at brisbane as there first port of call as one of them has been offered a job in birkdale, any info on the area would be great, is it a nice area to live, what are surrounding areas like, schools, house prices, is it close to cbd etc

Been a quite a few times as have rellies there its a great place very go ahead type of city thought about moving there but the thought of starting again put us off.
