Short term rentals

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Just wanted some advice on housing. We have just sold our house and the person buying it has agreed for us to stay in the property and rent it from her until we move to Australia in January. How easy is it to find short term furnished accommodation in the Adelaide Hills area? This is something we would need to look into as our furniture would not arrive until much later than we will. Does anyone know of any short term rental property companies that would be able to help us?

Most of the people on here have rentals in the southern suburbs which may be a bit far depending where in the hills you are thinking of. It's worth having a search on here though and having a look on google maps to see if any of them would be okay, even if just for a couple of weeks.

Otherwise try Stayz.com.au or takeabreak.com.au or airbnb. Or just google self catering accommodation in the areas you are thinking of. Most people just get furnished places for about three weeks while they find something long term then go and camp out in the unfurnished place.

If it's just you and your partner, it may be convenient to rent a room instead of the whole house.

We did that way last january, we found on http://www.homestaybooking.com a beautiful double room in Belair in a villa with pool and tennis court for something like 50$ per day.

I preferred this solution because especially the first days having someone "local" to talk with that lives in the same house can be important.
