Here's the Facebook event for anyone who fancies meeting some new friends - Friday 19th June at Bank Street Social - everyone welcome! You don't have to be a POM either :-)

 

Hey :)

 

I'm happy to leave the FB link up till the date of the meet up has passed. We have a rule re FB links and usually remove them but in certain circumstances I'm happy to leave them to stand. This is one of those instances :)

 

FWIW we do have a group thing on the forum for members to set up groups (open or closed) but realise that its not got quite the same appeal as FB.

 

I do try to keep in mind also not everyone is on FB or wants to lose their anonimity to the FB world in the jump from pretty anonymous to the masses on a forum to FB where everyone can see your name, profile pic and whatever else you choose to not keep private.

I know quite a few people (not on here) who refuse point blank to get a FB account or who have chosen to delete their account for whatever reason (that number seems to be growing). On here I've no clue as I don't cross FB with forum and prefer to keep things with a clear line defined.

 

Hope a few more are able to make it this time. I think with a bit more notice you'll get a few more joining you :) Some newer arrivals too which will be nice. Those early months settling in and not knowing people to have a night out can be tough going.

I've put a dedicated event thread here on PIA with all the details, so with any luck, everyone and anyone can get involved.

You're right, it can be a bit overwhelming moving to a new country and not knowing anyone, hopefully this will be a great chance for people to make some new friends and swap tips, ideas and information.

Hi, Im moving to Adelaide in August from Canberra, but am originally from Newcastle upon Tyne. We've been in Australia for about 18 months but have decided Adelaide might be more suited to us longer term. I'm moving with my husband and 2 year old boy, and would love to meet up with some of you once were settled.

Ahh hey all, I just turned 31 on Monday and I move to Adelaide from London in 10 days! Stumbled across this forum and think it's a great idea but I'll miss out on your night out! Shame. Feel free to add me on fb 'Frances Marie Barnes' if anyone would like to! Also so relieved that there's lots of late 20's and early 30 girlies on here :) have a fun night! Fran x

Hey hey... Yep, I'm the Chelsea one. Didn't even realise that was up on Facebook! All good :) I'm moving out because of a guy I met travelling Asia with and simply the opportunity to do something new. Less than a week now til I'm there. Crazy! Haha. hi amanda and other ladies, im 28 from the uk, been in oz 16 months now with my partner, we moved to adelaide 4 weeks ago and i could realy do with some female friends to socalise with. I have only just seen these posts so missed out on the meet night friday but would love to meet up with u if u do another night out. hopefully look forward to meeting you :-)

Hey Beccy, will you be moving to Port Noalunga? I'm living in Seaford Meadows which is really close by. Feel free to message me or find me on facebook (em ingham) if you fancy meeting up with a fellow pom when you arrive. I only arrived here in April and definitely miss going for a wine with my friends!

Hello Everyone,

Looks like the agreed meeting place this Friday 10th July is Madame Hanoi​ Bar & Restaurant in the Adelaide Casino on North Terrace in the CBD (practically on top of the train station). Official meeting time is 7pm, but a few of us will be there from 6.15pm.

As always there is no charge (just buy your own drinks and food). We don't have a table booked as yet, but they do have tables available from 8.30pm if anyone fancies some food.

Since it's in the Casino, it may be a good idea to ensure that you have photo ID on you and that you check out their dress code - it actually seems quite chilled but states as follows:

Dress code

The following will not be permitted at Adelaide Casino:

Torn clothes

Gang patches or other insignia

Dirty clothes or footwear

Clothing featuring offensive language or imagery

As always: if there are any newbies who are a little shy or just don't fancy walking in on their own then feel free to PM me and I'll be more than happy to meet you outside and walk in with you :smile:

Hi Lucy :) Welcome to the forum. Just so you know, new members posts are mod approved to begin with so don't panic if they don't show up straight away.

 

I know some of our members arrange meet ups in the CBD and elsewhere so keep an eye and hopefully there will be another one sometime soon.

Tell me about it, I could really do with some sunshine now. I'm in westlakes at the moment, I'm staying with a friend, which is nice but I'm not too keen on westlakes, so I'm probably going to move a bit closer to the city in a couple of months. This is really bad but I don't actually know where either of those suburbs are that you mentioned....only been here for a year lol. Are you from London?
