Ice-skating at Glenelg

We went to the Winter Wonderland in Glenelg at the weekend and it was really fun - not terribly pricey or busy. It was little surreal skating and looking at the sea but the atmosphere inside the dome was proper winter.

I think it's only got a few weeks left before it's done - it was there last year so I'm assuming it'll come back again next year.

Apparently it proved so popular last year they made it a bit bigger this year. We went twice last winter and the rink was tiny and somewhat slushy in places. The penguins for kids to use to get round the ice are handy but other parents/kids do then try to nick them the moment you let it go to get off the ice.

Not had a chance to go this year but have heard good things :) A nice way to pass an afternoon and then head off for a hot chocolate to round the day off :)

Penguins? Suitable for little babies? Lol

Ummm - perhaps not quite... next year for sure :)

Snifter; the rink didn't feel tiny and the ice was hard (especially when we fell on it!). The only thing that spoilt it slightly were a couple of older kids thinking they were pros and speeding through the middle but other than that it was a good hour spent.

Alas not. I'd say from 3 up is probably when they are going to be useable. Mostly as smaller than that, the toddler probably won't be able to see over the top of them. The handles are at the top so being a bit taller is better. Kids up to 7 or 8 can still use them but they do have to hunch over them a bit.
