Hi,

I just lodged my tax return and the commissioner charges me medicare levy 2%. As far as I know, the 489 visa holder doesn't entitled with medicare service. I just want to know how to rid off the medicare levy surcharges 2% from my taxable income. I was assessed as an Australian resident for tax purpose and get tax free threshold up to $ 18.200. I am afraid if I declare as a temporary resident for avoiding medicare levy surcharges, I will lose tax free threshold.
