  2. Hi there, I too understand how you feel, but it is very early days and most of us reading will have felt like this at some point... We have been here 18 months now and on the whole I am very happy but still have the odd glitch here & there of wanting to go home... I like others will say hamg on in there, it is a roller coaster but go with it because it will get easier as life here becomes more familar... Hang on in there... Kind Regards

  4. This sounds like a good solution! We are currently on a 475 visa and waiting for our employer sponsored 857 permanent visa to arrive. For us the 475 was the only real route for us to get to Adelaide. Its not easy being on this visa as you don't get the benefits of what the permanent visa offers but its a start. We have been lucky as my employer offered us sponsorship. We have now been waiting 7 months for this and now starting to wonder if its ever going to happen. But we are here and its great!! Good luck guys!!
  5. Sorry I didn't put the year. Its a 2005. Its a CV model. Sorry I have no photos yet but I can arrange

  7. We used anglo P to start with. They packed the whole house up and done a good job. We then got delayed in coming over and thats when the problems started with Anglo. There storage charges were sky high so as we decided to call back our goods. 6 months later we were back on and had a firm date when we were moving so we called them back for a quote. Couldn't believe they were the most expensive and considering we had already blown thousands with them they were not willing to move. I would not recommend them. We went with Pickfords. Excellent from start to finish!!
  8. A well enjoyed day had by all. Petty about the chilly conditions but didn't stop me getting a half decent round in (and closest to pin on the 12th). Thanks Cooler for putting everything together and be happy to help out for the next event
  9. Too any of the above postee's pm if you fancy a cuppa or a playdate???? Not you Coolerking ;-) Regards Charlie x
  10. Hi there, we are living in Sellicks too... Cuppa sometime? Charlie :-)
  11. We had to go through the packing twice as we were held up. The first time we used anglo pacific and they packed everything ok but when we were held up and had to put our stuff into storage the problems started. In the end we had to get all our stuff back as the storage charges were so high. When we were ready to go the second time we called them for a quote and the cost had gone through the roof!! We had spent so much of our hard earned money on them there was no reduced fee or anything. POOR services and would not recommend them. On the other hand we opted for Pickfords who were first class. A great price and everything handled superbly. Take a look at them! Good luck to you and enjoy the ride!!
  12. Hi guys. I am happy to help you out if you wish I am the sales manager at southside suzuki and we deal with new and 2nd hand vehicles. It can be a bit scarey buying your first car as you will need to understand the rego and stamp duty. We have been here around 10 months and always speaking to new arrivals so if I can help you out then let me know.
  13. We are currently renting down the road at Sellicks but now looking to buy in Aldinga area. Wouldn't go to Seaford as its built up and house prices are far greater. Aldinga Beach has a slower way of life about it which suits us. Good schools, a great little shopping centre and a superb beach. Its a little further out for work but I can live with that. Just waiting for the right house to come along then hopefully make the move.
  14. We have now been here in Adelaide for 9 months on a 475 visa and just feel like giving you a couple of examples of the highs and lows of coming over on this visa. Number 1 is that we wouldn't be here if this wasn't available so we feel very lucky to be here. The cost of the application, medicals, flights etc was far more then we ever expected so make sure you have the finances in place before you even think about the whole migration issue. Make sure you are also financially sound for when you arrive. We have had to dip into our savings on a couple of occasions to keep going. You are not entitled to anything such as center link, rent assit etc. This was again something we were not expecting and has made things that little more challenging for us. As we have settled in quicker then expected I have been lucky to again employee sponsor so we are currently going through the visa application again to gain our permanent visa. This will take sometime but this will then open doors on securing a home loan as we are desperate to own our own house. We are totally over the renting thing and crying out for a place we can call home. Mortgage companies can only offer you 80% as you are temporary plus there is other hurdles to get over as well. I think I am trying to say is to be well prepared if you are arriving on a 475. It can be difficult as not many doors open for you at first but if you stick with it then things will start to happen. We miss our family and friends but have met some great people here and love the area. I have worked for the same company seen I have been here and they have been very supportive of me and my family. Good luck and you will love it!!
  15. Interested to hear from anyone who has applied for a permanent visa earlier then requested. We are on a 475 temp visa and should wait 2 years before we can apply for permanent. We are only into our visa 6 months but have settled into life here and keen to buy our first house. So many mortgage lenders will not touch us due to this. We have heard people on this visa applying early for permanent and been granted. Any help on this would be grateful!!!

  17. Hi all, Please can anyone advise on tips when breaking lease??? We may possibly be purchasing our own property shortly and may need to break lease... Any advise greatly received... Cheers John:D
  18. Hi, thanks for reply. Looking on government visa website it says 3 -3 1/2 months!!! Lets hope it is as quick as yours hey? Have you bought property here & if so how easy did you find getting a home loan? Cheers mate.
  19. My family & I are here on a 475 state sponsered visa. We have settled in nicely and are enjoying our new life in South Australia. Having moved here in Sept 2010 and I started work in Oct 2010. We signed a rental lease for 12 months and although we like it and are quite happy we are now itching to buy our own property. My employers are happy to move forwards with job sponsorship, sub class 119/857 . Being on a permanant visa opens many doors for us on home loans etc but does anyone have any idea on the timescale from applying to receiving this type of visa. My wife & I have found a house that we would very much like to purchase. Any hints tips or advise on home laons would be much appreciated.. Many thanks guys
