  1. It's a jetty!!!!!!!!!!!! Lol.....best place to go to for advice, as I understand from others on here, is in Christies Beach to the fishing tackle shop there. They are meant to be very helpful.
  2. Well you are very brave! All our money is tied up in our bricks and mortar and until that sells we need a job to go if we want to move before the sale of the house :-((
  3. Really need to have a job to go to for us to be able to rent. I have been applying but no luck so far!
  4. Still waiting for our hose to sell! The market is dead in the UK and isn't getting any better. Well it's all happening for a reason! Keep safe Ali.
  5. And it look like its still going http://www.sunderlandecho.com/news/local/all-news/adelaide-bobs-in-dreamland-1-1073521
  6. How about this one? http://www.readytogo.net/branches/adelaide.html
  7. No but there is a Newcastle one......will that do? ...........lol I'm more of the rugger type! Well my lads are and so I have now been converted to a mans game where the professionals are paid a reasonable sum of money (still quite a high sum for chasing eggs) and only stay on the floor when they are really injured!
  8. This probably is a really stupid question and has probably been asked before, but, is there an Aussie book that is equivalent to the Highway Code? If so, how much is it? I shall be investing in one which I would suggest new immigrants or those planning or about to go do. May save money in the long run.
  9. Once we get there Andy we will definitely attend one and see you about things. Hope you're well. Mis

Yes things do look gloomy and my days in the office will be hard work!....lol However, these things go in cycles the POMS were very poor for about 20 years but have now sorted things out. Strangely, the Aussies are normally at the forefront of new coaching and playing ideas but in my opinion have sat on their laurels while they were successful and are now paying the price. As for the team Diane is spot on I reckon Punter was not a good skipper a great player yes, but, not a good skipper. In my opinion they are short of a consistent opening pair, a good wicket keeper who can also bat, a middle order batsman who can steady things but score runs when needed, a spinner and 2 quicks. There appears to be a lack of talent coming through and that would point to lack of investment at grass roots. Will we win the Ashes not a cat in hells chance! Will it be 20 years away I don't think so but unless the selectors get that ruthless streak back and investment at grass root level is forthcoming it maybe 40 years! Just my thoughts from he UK!
  12. It was just one agency that said BA positions were saturated! Don't really want to go to Sydney or Melbourne as Adelaide is my home.
  13. Hi Jon and Linds and welcome to the forum. We are also near Blackpool and just waiting to sell our house which in our case is a real struggle :-(( so if you are selling your house get it on the market ASAP.....it may take longer than you think :-( If you want to chat let e know and I'm sure we could find some time to meet or talk. Ktee - Blackpool has gone downhill steadily for the past 20 years, unfortunately! The illuminations are still going strong but I ever saw the fascination in a loud of light bulbs...lol
  14. Vegemite is quite widely available in places like tesco, booths and even our local farm shop :-0! The price is about £1.95 for a jar ( not the large jar but the medium size one). Aussie wine is cheap over here because the wineries get about 99 pence a bottle off the supermarkets.......according to the guy at Rosemount winery. He did tell us the story where tesco wanted to pay even less but they refused and that's why for years you could not get Rosemount wines from tesco........don't know if you can now as we shop at Lidle now. I bought a bottle of Rosemount Shiraz on Friday for £4.99 it was on offer! Normal price would have been £9.99. When we were over for OH visa activation we had a lovely bottle of wolf blass and it tasted superior to the wines you get in the UK. It was a mid range wine as well. I reckon the lower priced Aussie wines in the UK are the ?clear? ?clean? skins........can't remember what you call them :-((
  15. Strange how people see things differently! I have been told that BA jobs in Adelaide are saturated by a recruitment agency! What is your opinion on this?
  16. Good topic this Diane. As you know I'm an Aussie who is still in UK :-( but all the time I have been here I have supported the Aussies when they were playing the POMS in whatever sport, always made for some great banter at work and with friends :-) Have always bought Aussie wines, still consider Vegemite to be far superior to marmite and still get Milo when we can afford it. In answer to your question I still feel Australian but unfortunately I am still in the UK :-((
  17. Don't work too hard Ali........you won't be able to enjoy your time! Keep safe.
  18. Nope I emailed them got a reply and they were very helpful. When we activated my OH visa last year we went in to the branch on King William Street and, again, they were very helpful.
  19. Check out Poms in Oz site ( the parent one of this one) there is a thread under the Transport and Shipping forum which has the calculator mentioned.......well the guy who will work it out for you!
  20. Difficult one this one. Yes they have been paying into the Australian economy and set up home only 3 miles from where they should. However, they knew the rules of the visa ( or should have) and as such should have set up home in the correct area. There are boundaries on this visa for a reason and if we think of it that something may affect us like a neighbour building an extension 3 foot on to your land - would you be happy. Or erecting a fence and taking 3 foot of your land would you be okay with that? In both the examples would you just say 'oh well, let bygones be bygones and apply common sense'? Having said the above it would be considerably wrong of the Australian Government if they do not publicise more such cases of them deporting people back as they have broken their Visa's rules.
  21. Well I think it will spiral down now as the UK credit rating has been downgraded from AAA to Aa1 :-((( Times are only going to get tougher me thinks!
