  1. We live in Burnside and have a dog. We bought here so can't help with the rental side. Lots of dog friendly parks around. There is a specific fenced dog park in Glenside which is regularly frequented by two huge Irish Wolfhounds so your rotty's would feel at home! As for business, it would be an excellent area, lots of money around and lots of families. Also near to the hills for the wineries where a lot of weddings take place. Excellent spot. We love living here, resident Koala in the garden and views of the city. Awesome!!
  2. Hi Chelsea, just a quick question that I think I know the answer to, which agency are you recruiting for?
  3. I hold an account with IC in the UK but was wondering if anyone had any ideas of a similar sort of finance website available over here for research, buying shares etc? Cheers James
  4. try The Guv http://www.thegov.com.au/ - went to see Gomez there, not a bad venue
  5. Hi All, anyone have a recommendation for an air-conditioning installer? We live in the eastern suburbs (Burnside). Cheers James
  6. We did Elder Park on the banks of the Torrens last year which was good. Weather will be good again this year and i aim not to be as drunk as i was last year...Like Glenelg, two lots of fire works; kids one at 9 and another main event at midnight. No drinks allowed into park but plenty of beer tents in there. We smuggled a couple of bottles in though. Really chilled, music laid on etc http://www.cityofadelaide.com.au/whats_on/adelaide-city-new-years-eve
  7. i have access to SAI global at work so will see if i can download. PM me your email addresses and i'll forward onto you.
  8. Anyone got a recommendation for a sparky who covers / will travel to Burnside? Have 3 ceiling fans which need installing and connecting. Cheers James
  9. I don't know for certain, but of the increased hourly rate up at the mines, do you need to pay for accomodation - once that's taken into consideration how much more do you actually earn?
  10. Looking to get a new boiler installed at some point so need to get a couple of quotes - if anyone can recommend a plumber around Burnside or perhaps someone who is willing to travel to Burnside, can you let me have their details? Cheers James
  11. Richard, that must mean you work for KBR (assuming you're on the consultant side)? I think we lost out to you guys on that project, i work for AECOM.
  12. Morning all, we're selling a couple of sets of kids wardrobes and matching drawers on ebay http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/tinkertailerdog/m.html?hash=item20cb190ffd&item=140846370813&pt=AU_Children_s_Furniture&rt=nc&_trksid=p4340.l2562 Paste the above link into your browser
  13. A work colleague just bought an second hand Outlander from NSW and drove it back at the weekend. Taking into account flights, stop-overs on way back, fuel, food and re-registering this end he stands to save $4000 (or $5k excluding taking into account above expenses) which is nothing to be sniffed at. Seems worthwhile in my book.
  14. The kids are 6 and 5. They're both happy enough here, that's when the eldest one is not having a tantrum break down that is. Keeping them busy doesn't seem to be an issue. Hazelwood is a nice area, close enough to everything, though to be honest everything is relatively close. Crime is something i guess you can't get away from no matter where you live - we've lived here for almost 18months and i can't say i've ever felt threatened or witnessed any crime. That's obviously not to say it doesn't happen, there are the usual break-ins, car thefts etc which are covered in the free papers that we get. We're right on the border of the CBD parklands and feel safe, we've left the cars unlocked on numerous occasions and nothings ever happened. I think most areas in the Eastern burbs are good. There's a few busy roads around which if you live close to might be noisy (Portrush Road, Glen Osmond Road, Kensington Road, Greenhill Road, The Parade - though the last 3 are more during the rush hour). The further east you head the closer to the foothills you get, which is where we're off to, blocks tend to be slightly bigger out that way than closer in to the CBD It's one of those things that until you experience life here it will always remain a mystery.
  15. Hello. Our house is up for rent on real estate. It is 76 alexandra ave, rose park. Have a look. There was somebody came to look yesterday. What kind of nursing do you do? I work in emerg at the Wakefield. Nursing ratios are slightly worse in the private sector but I believe the public is 3 to 1. We love living in Adelaide and find it way friendlier and a way easier pace of life due to less people. The hills are beautiful and if you rent centrally then you can spend six months trying to decide which area suits you as a family. We lived in Hampton for a year, where on the mornington penninsula are you? What does your husband do? Lots of questions.
  16. Hi, we currently live in the Eastern suburb of Rose Park. Our daughters go to Rose Park primary school which is a fantastic school. Rose Park is close to the CBD and the parklands (have a look on google maps). My wife works at the Wakefield hospital and generally cycles, but you can walk it in 20-mins. When are you looking to move? Reason for asking is that we're going to have to break our lease as we've just had an offer accepted on a house near Stoneyfell. Our rental is on Alexandra Avenue which also happens to be on the same road as the school (about 8 doors up!) ) We've got 60-days completion target from tomorrow! Rose Park School also has a pre-school, but we sent our youngest daughter to the Christian Brothers College Community Children's Centre on East Terrace which is just inside the parklands and a very short walk to Wakefield Hospital and the Royal Adelaide Hospital. We lived in Melbourne too for a year and much prefer Adelaide. It's so much more relaxed.
  17. Our friends own Amalfi and he is the chef their. He was so pleased to be mentioned in the article!
  18. What area of work are you looking at? As Ianb says the builders are a JV, and many of the engineering design packages are JV's too. Sub-contractors i'm not so sure about other than Hastie Group are no longer and Nielsens are the electrical contractors. I work for AECOM and the RAH is one of the projects we missed out on.
  19. The green part might be an issue during the summer....as for pests.....other than that, highly recommend it though we live in the eastern burbs
  20. Not sure about the dirt and dust thing. We took our Volvo, i washed and cleaned it myself but didn't bother with steam cleaning the engine or underside of the car as was told that customs this side would do that in regardless, which is what happened.
  21. We used the vets on harrogate road in leeds, called Holly house. They knew all about it and suggested shippers. We never ended up taking our dog but the main vet there was very clued up.
  22. Amalfi on Frome St (great atmosphere, really tasty food and reasonable $), or Rigoni's (http://www.rigonis.com.au/) on Leigh St.
  23. I expect if you can take them apart and don't mind putting them back up then that would be preferable. As we found flat pack stuff doesn't travel that well. For the removalists to take the stuff apart i suspect they would charge you a bit more and no doubt not do as good a job as yourself.
