Hi everyone, we are breaking our lease on our rental in Seaton, as we're moving to New Zealand, I've put the link on here (hope thats ok) but if you PM me i can arrange for you to come and see it anytime. If your new here its a ideal spot, West Lakes (shops and lake) is a walk away and we have 3 lots of different buses you can catch into the city (takes around 25 minutes). There may even be some basic bits that we could leave you (double bed, bedding). http://www.realestate.com.au/property-house-sa-seaton-413341851 Debbie

Debbie
  7. hi sorry not really sure what i'm looking for on gumtree but could you tell me the size, i think it may be too high but if not we would be interested. thanks Debbie
  8. Hi we go to Trinity Medical Centre, 28 College Road, (think it comes under Port Adelaide), you just ring for an appointment and if its your first visit take your medicare card and it doesn't cost anything as they bulk bill, i've been there twice and doctor was very good, went first thing in the morning and no waiting around either Debbie
  9. love it, having never visited or particularly wanted to visit Australia before, hubby got a job in Adelaide and i am now very protective of it, I love living here for all the above reasons and more, lots more, every single weekend we do as much or as little as we want. We're not wildly travelled but loved Sydney for the hustle and bustle (still wanted to come home after a few days), Melbourne was too big and inpersonal, and Adelaide is home.
  10. Hi Kieron we're heading over about 2 and going to have a roast first, (more than welcome to join us) think the games on 3.30ish, i'll pm you my number, Debbie
  11. Hi Claire, sorry just seen this, theres a few of us based in west lakes (and in this area) think we're going to see about sorting something out at Henley soon, so keep an eye out and we'll post something. Debbie
  12. kids always welcome, especially in the summer down the beach (us oldies can't chase the ball when we play cricket)
  13. and when you've finished walking maybe we can meet in Baccus or Ramsgate, when i get back from Bali maybe we should sort out a meet up Emma x
  14. Well done Claire, Mark and I are into week 5, we're using Champix but that seems to be a prop at the moment as this time (there have been others ) we are in the right frame of mind, not saying its easy but feeling so much more positive than the other times, we've been putting $100 a week in a clear jar and love seeing it grow.
  15. hi i went earlier this year and when the cricket was on there was bouncy stuff at the back of the hill area and something wet (didn't look too closely) and you can sit on the grass aswell, you can always take a stroll round and go down to the boats, going in and out of the ground, sure they'll love it. Debbie
  16. Come along and see us we're Debbie's Divas, and see if you can 'Beat the Bike' the whole event has been moved inside at the Showground so you won't get wet, loads of bands and activities on, its an overnight walking relay for Cancer research, I have a link to our donation page but not sure if i can include it here, but if you would like to donate to this worthy (and close to my heart cause) I can always send it by PM. Thanks for any support Debbie
  17. Hi we didn't need a police check or medicals for a 457 i think this very much depends on the occupation (i think it may be required if your working with children) or skills assessment, just needed proof of qualifications and references from previous employers, I'm assuming you do mean the 457 temporary visa, if you go on to make the move permanent then you will need them, (maybe not the skills assessment if your here over 2 years). Once it was submitted it also only took less than a week to be approved. Debbie
  18. sorry but bloody hell, go for it guys, everyones experience and lifestyles are so different and yours is all going good, lets celebrate that, its good to share the good things and and unfortunately for some the not so good, i know its not a bed of roses but its so lovely to hear the positives and a balanced view of the not so positives. but good luck to you guys I wish you all the best debbie
  19. thanks for that, we were hoping we could still use them and as you say we will keep looking to see if they up the age which would be handy, his boss uses an agent and is in the process of sponsoring others for a 186 so hopefully that should all be ok.
  20. Hi wonder if anyone could help, we will be thinking of applying for a new 457 when this one runs out, (still got 2 1/2 yrs to go and if everything carries on as it is) will we be able to use the original work references plus the one for the 4 years in australia or do we have to go back and get them again? Also how long before it runs out should we apply. We can't apply for any other visa due to age so the permanent route unfortunately isn't for us Thanks Debbie.
  21. it was about 10,000 GBP (can't really remember exactly) about $17,000, paid most of it in but kept enough for a bond and months worth of rent, not had that much cash before (or since) lol, wouldn't recommend it though. Not sure about more expensive as we'd never been before, we made a point of not converting things back, if we needed to buy stuff - $'s is what we need to pay. When your earning $'s its all relative so try not to compare, very occassionally we do like last night, ticket for a fringe show $16 about 8 GBP not bad for a night out or Bon Jovi tickets for $30 so not all bad Debbie
  22. we brought a large amount of UK cash with us (due to the bank mucking up getting out money - long story) but we declared it and as we had something to declare went straight to the front of the line, no problems at all, just showed them the cash had a little chat about our travel and was straight out, when to the bank on the way from the airport as the rental wasn't free till lunchtime and deposited it and opened an account, very easy, bank cards came to the rental 3 days later. Wouldn't recommend travelling with that sort of money but if you have to wasn;t a problem.
  23. thanks for all this, is it something that ready to use straight away, going to have a proper sort out tomorrow so i'll probably get back to you
