  1. I didn't get mine given, i had to write to the hospital for them & they charged me per sheet they photocopied, but well worth the money for the keepsake value [emoji2] i found a letter template online somewhere & just added my information.
  2. I 'ordered' my maternity notes after both children - absolutely loved reading through them, especially for my oldest because I was so out if it & tired it was all a huge blur!
  3. Does anyone know if a UK will holds up once we make the move, or are we required to make a new, australian will once we arrive?
  4. I thought the same samandcraig, so glad you posted. Another one to cross of my list!
  5. Yes!! Although we have so much to do, we're feeling frustrated that we can't do much until we sell!! We've just put the business on the market last week! Finishing off the house & touchinh up paintwork etc, which is going on the market in the New Year, but until they're both sold & going through we kind of feel stuck!!! We're going to have a major sort through of all our belongings & weed out what we won't be taking, but other than that, there's nothing we can be doing!!! Can't book flights, accommodation etc etc Where abouts are you looking at settling?
  6. Congratulations guys so happy for you :)
  7. Oh WOW!!! Fantastic news!! CONGRATULATIONS! Do you know when/where etc?
  8. Oh wow!! And just like that you're packed!! Scary!! But oh so exciting!! We plan on taking most of our stuff, although the king size bed from the spare room will stay. Youngest son has a toddler bed, which I am hoping he doesn't grow out if before we come, & our older son has a built in bed which can't be moved, so hoping we'll get the rest in!! Just out of interest, what size of house are you moving from? And did you have a lot of general small stuff that you have packed? And how about kitchen stuff? Hoping I can gauge whether we'll fit into a 20ft!! I hope so! I'm not sure what I'd leave behind!!! Eek!! Enjoy the drink!! Amy x
  9. It's a complete logistical nightmare! We're either going to be jobless with the house on the market, or homeless with jobs!! We'll just have to keep our heads down & fingers crossed! & know that it'll all work out in the end!!! Great that you can save before going over - we're saving all we can! I hope you do hear before Christmas - let us know when you do.
  10. I've started clearing out the last few months! And going easy on the kids this Christmas. Definitely don't want to be buying stuff to then sell/giveaway cos we've got too much stuff! What size container have you got? Are you taking everything?
  11. We applied for the 190 - it all went pretty quick at the end & even then I was impatient! We're in the UK right now. We went over to validate the Visas in August and are in the process of selling up in the UK now. We have a business to sell which is going on the market this week and then the house in the New Year.
  12. Hope the packing went well today! Did they manage to do it all in the one day? I'm already having mild panics about shipping & the logistics of it all & it'll be at least next Summer when it's time for us to do it all!! How far in advance are you shipping?
  13. Congratulations on your first year. Thanks so much for sharing too - i'm always interested to know how people get on once they've arrived & settled!
  14. Ooohhh, the koala is just so sweet!! I hoped we'd see one in the wild when we were over in August, but we didn't! Just one up at Cudlee Creek (can't remember the name if the park, but can remember where it was!)
  15. I was impatient too! And hated waiting! I annoyed myself by constantly checking emails, but just couldn't help it!! And then wondering if something was wrong & that was what was taking ages!!! From what I can gather our process ended up being pretty quick in comparison to some aswell. You'll get there & the relief & joy when you do is just amazing!!
  16. Thanks for that @Steve_H. Hoping to get a job in an independent garage, so doesn't sound like it's worth investing in a huge amount of imperial stuff.
  17. We're planning on heading over in 2015, and as a mechanic I'll be taking all my tools and diagnostic equipment. I only have metric tools and wondering if it's worth investing in any imperial stuff before heading over? Is imperial common in Aus? Or is it mainly metric? Would rather buy good quality Snap On and I've heard it's cheaper in the UK, so will stock up before I go if it's something I'm going to need on a regular basis. Cheers, Tom
  18. Wow, sounds like you're settling in well!! We've just got back from our reccie & cannot wait to return. Good luck with the job hunting
  19. We used Go Matilda, & we live in the North West. Excellent service, right from the beginning.
  20. Loving this thread! We're currently here on a reccie and loving it!
  21. So exciting! We're not there yet, fly out in 2 weeks to validate, and then probably be next year before we make the move. Good luck with the whole move
  22. So, I've searched the site, and got a few answers to some of my questions - such as, are all food and drinks free on board! But, with the inflight entertainment - are you provided with headphones, or do we need to take some with us? Assuming they're provided, but wanted to check! I had another question too - but it's escaped me! I'll be back soon with another I'm sure!
  23. Thanks for all the replies - think we'll just take £'s and AUD if that's the case.
