Ambulance cover

    Hi,

We have recently moved to Adelaide and have managed to get most things sorted. Next on our list is ambulance cover/private medical cover. Does anyone have any advice regarding these? Do we need private cover to get ambulance cover or can we just get the ambulance thing sorted. Also regarding private medical cover any suggestions as to companies and the type of cover a family of three would need with possible podiatry and orthodontics??????

    Thanks

    Annette

You can just get the ambulance cover sorted without private insurance. Go to the post office fill it in and pay at the counter. Very easy done.

Don't put it off whatever you do! If you are unsure about extras cover with a private company, then just do as suggested above - pop into one of the larger post offices, fill out the form, pay the fee (it's something negligible like $130 for a family) and get it done.

If you don't do it now, then something happens tomorrow and someone calls an ambulance for you - it will be a lot more than $130!!

    Here are the details http://www.saambulance.com.au/ProductsServices/AmbulanceCover.aspx

It should definitely be one of the first things you do!

We have Bupa ambulance cover, it's around $50 for a family of 4.

We don't have anything else but it is something we will be looking into soon.

I got an ambulance called out for me a couple of months ago and the 2 ambo's and a mobile doctor was $840, which got covered with Bupa ..... Well worth it!

We're with the Commonwealth Bank Health Society (CBHS)

Will find out shortly how good our cover is . . . . . .

Junior had a motobike accident and was airlifted from the site to the RAH on the weekend :swoon:

3 Ambulances, 2 CFS 1 police car and the little $hit gets a ride in a helicopter too.

Broke his femur, wrist and his bike.

All the people who attended were amazing, and the follow up to date has been exceptional.

Would recommend the private cover and don't be afraid to ask what the gap will be if you use the private services of the specialists.

I'll be moving to Adelaide alongwith my wife by June end on a 176 SS visa. What are the charges for getting ambulance cover ? Is there an annual/quarterly fee ? Can the services be availed immediately or is there a waiting period of some sort ?

the website (http://www.saambulance.com.au/ProductsServices/AmbulanceCover.aspx ) states $133 per family. Will this be billed annually ?

Are there any other charges to be paid when we actually avail the ambulance service ?

    Hope he is ok.

    Thanks Janice & Ali

Came home yesterday, can barely walk and his leg is massively bruised.

I get to play Dr's with his injections though, must have blunt needles:biggrin:.

Reckon 6-8 weeks recovery at best, the human body is an amazing thing.

We have full private health and ambulance cover too, will post the outcome later so people can get a 'heads up' on what the real costs were.

    Cheers

    Just a heads up.

All is fine, turns out all the emergency treatment he got was fully covered by Medicare :jiggy:

Saw a collection in the mall a few weeks ago for a new rescue helicopter, had to change direction to walk over and make a donation, $50.00 is SFA compared to what they did for us, it was the only note in my wallet but worth every cent.

Been suspended from his job (well he is still recovering) but will be looking to get back into it and finish off his 4th year by early September.

Turns out the bike was also fully insured for off road too.

    Love this country :cute:
