We are breaking our lease in our rented house 4 mths before it is up, how much information does the agent need to know in regards to why we are breaking it??? They have open inspections booked in twice a week for next 5 weeks and we also have to accomadate private viewings,is this excessive??

Why hide anything?? Just tell them what your plans are. It happens often.

I guess with only 4 months left on the lease it will not be as popular so the agent is pushing it more by more opens.

On the other hand if your reasons for breaking the lease are private and personal and you don't want to tell them then you don't have to! Lease breaking happens all the time and they probably are not bothered why you want to leave the property.

Also the fact you have only 4 months left to run on the lease normally doesn't mean anything as a new tenant would be asked to sign a new 12 or 6 month lease.

With regards to the opens, yes, they are annoying and intrusive but they need to happen to find a new tenant and that way you will have less financial pain.

It's in your interests for the agent to have as many viewings as possible - as if they are unable to find someone to take over the lease, you are responsible for the costs. Better they find someone than not, surely?

Thanks for replys...i have nothing to hide regards our breaking the lease but just would rather not discuss our personnal reasons with her. I know its better to have the inspectons, just worried about our stuff in the house when so many ppl have access to them, seen a current affair programme only 2 weeks ago about the horrors of open inspections, and concerned because previous tennants were very unsaviour charecters and we get weekly visits still from the police looking for them,so they must still give this address!!

Express your security concerns to the agent, they should take details of everyone that views even on an open. I would lock valuables and documents away, in a suitcase if there is nowhere else, anyway.

Switch any computers off and be around to keep an eye on things.

The real reason you are breaking your lease is not really anyone's business except yours. The agent probably doesn't really care so you could make up any old excuse. Just make sure you don't tell the agent it's because you're going home as they may be reluctant to let future properties out to immigrants for fear they may not see out their lease period.
