Queuing at pedestrian crossins

    Recommended Posts

Hs anyone else noticed how Aussies have a tendency to queue at pedestrian crossings? Several times today I've got to a crossing to find 3 or 4 people stood in a neat line even though there is plenty of space at the pavement. What is that about? And yet they don't bother queueing at bus stops

I am usually lurking in the shade of a lampost when waiting at one :cute: Not that they offer much but its that or standing 3 miles away in the doorway of the nearest shop with awning out front.

Perhaps it stems from the old rule of walking on the left of a pavement. Being in a queue at a crossing also leaves room for people coming from the other side of the road.

As for seeking out an awning to escape the sun, it is another thing I miss being back in England, little or no shelter from the rain!
