  3. Hey cara, Rent your house out, the rumour has it that the market will soar next spring, that way you keep all your equity and you'll have a long time here to see if you love it. We rented ours out and at first didn't think it was the right thing to do. Now i have changed my mind defo a good thing. It takes a good year to get or even feel settled, im hopefully gonna rent for another year until I get a closer value for mine. i just realised Im rambling advice that you didn't ask for. Sorry. Lauraxxxx
  4. Hi Graham, Well said. Ive got to say, nobody said it was going to be easy.... well it has been very hard, to get jobs we will have been here a year in Nov my OH is only on 16$ per hour and he gets sent home when its quite, which is often. Turning that into a possitive he gets to enjoy being here and spending more time with our kids. I am sooooooooo glad we didn't return in Sept, since then I have been excepted into a lovely group of friends whom I have tons in common with. One of them had asked her friend about a job position for me which is much better paid than my oh and my oh has an interview for night work, ok its not what we imagined before we got here but it is what we have to do at the mo to get on and thrive. Im not giving up on our lovely lifestyle that easy. Yes we hit many lows but honest to God (sorry) We just love the warmth of the sun and the warmth of the people who live here. Finally I can say I know this is where I want to be maybe not forever who knows what tomorrow will bring but definatly for now. Laura xxxx
  5. Hi guys I just want to offer my experience to you. You may remember my post, Ive had enough im going home. My other half and I have really struggled here first to make friends and secondly to earn a decent living. I have turned my head upside down thinking I want to go back. How ever now ive finally met some really good friends and have been offered an okay job, I really want to stay. Its taken us a year, the lifestyle for families here is 100 % better than the UK Don't and I repeat try not to chuck it all in just yet as Adelaide grows on you, you need to give it a chance for it to give you a chance. Laura xxx
  6. Only offering this advise as your asking, I love Adelaide but didn't for a long while, perhaps it might be worth giving it time. You may just get used to it. Laura xxxx
  7. But what about the spiders that come with the tree YIKES
  8. Before we left England my sister invited us for Sunday lunch, we arrived to christmas music, they put up there tree and decorations they had crackers around the table they thought of everything. All my sisters and brothers, cousins ect were there. The following week they picked us up from the house to go to the airport and we had to pop in her house for something. Then we had New Years eve party all the same stuff, party poppers, fireworks, I have a tear in my eye now lol. We arrived the beginning of nov 07. Everytime i went christmas shopping and someone said to me oh your from England you must miss your family this time of year, I could hardly breathe without a tear falling. I bought my first ever immitation christmas tree, instead of cutting it down in the woods, defo not the same smell, feeling, not christmas at all I could have just let it go by like any other day. Yes we had crayfish ect, which was nice. this year im really looking forward to christmas being a day on the beach and just maybe with new friends I have met. 1 day in the year is not worth the trade off. Has anyone been to Lobethal to see the lights. im not saying anything. lol Laura xxx

  11. Hi Guys, Check this band out. Its my nephews band and he's the drummer. I just had a look at the website and its the first time i have listened to his music. I instantly liked them (not just saying it) They are supporting Cold play this year. Laura x xxx
  12. Im saying this in a no offence taken voice honest. I wasn't name dropping, just proud that Richard my nephew wasn't at all fazed by fame as he would have joined the other bands mentioned. He was really focused stayed true to himself rather than going for fame. If I was to name drop, I could mention that his brother is now married to a lovely lady who just happens to be the god daughter of a famous billionaire. lol lauraxxxx
  13. Hi Simon, The band is called Dominoe State, Im envious of you having the choice to see coldplay, i would love to be there myself. laura xx
  14. Just to add, My Nephew's band has been chosen to be the supporting band to Cold play. I feel really proud of him, he was origionally the chosen drummer for a band called Busted, he turned it down many times after begging him, as it was not his bag. He then went on to turn down Mcfly and also James from busted own band. He went on to Uni got a 1st in his degree. Now backing Coldplay, I really hope his band makes it big. My other Nephew is the drummer in a great band named The Hitups check out their website. Lauraxxxxx
  15. Hi Liz, i have to say that I really understand about dog phobia. I have battled with this all my life. I wish my parents would have bought me a puppy. I know this would be the ideal thing for you to do. However I have the opposit with all my children, I never ever want them to feel like me. They ask if the dogs are friendly first, then they are all over them, It petrify's me. But I don't show it to them, I quietly tremble inside. I would buy a dog but I am to affraid as they attract other dogs when taking them for a walk. LOL Lauraxxxx Ps Dog owners please spare a thought for me when you have your dogs off leads on the beach. I have to go home. lol

  24. Hiya there, My experience of this is I did'nt get around to exchanging my licence for 6 months, i was a bit sloppy in this and probably lucky that there was no problems, I never had to take a sit down test, i just paid what seemed like loads of money at the time for a 3 year licence. Plus they don't keep your UK licence any more here in Adelaide. Lauraxxx
