  5. Hi Thanks for your quick replies. Staying just over two weeks. Interested to know as what is classed as rural. Have no problem doing that but think rural in SA is very different to rural in Wales. Is victor harbour classed as rural or could you name some rural areas many thanks. Trying to pack my park with a mixture of summer clothes with a few jackets but when checking weather it says 15*C or is that wishful thinking. Thank you. Kathy x x
  6. Hi This is the way my daughter is counting down to our reccie. Getting very excited now seems it's been so long coming can't believe it is actually just around the corner. Mow to be realistic we have a got an itinerary. Look at job vacancies ( primary teacher and call centre manager), places to live and schools, cost of supermarkets. Can anyone suggest other things that I should be doing on the reccie to make it beneficial. Look forward to any advice Many thanks kathy:smile:

  9. Hi Can anyone give any guidance. We are a family of three going to Adelaide in august for two weeks. We are staying in an apartment so can make most of our meals, also neither f us are drinkers. Just wandered how much money would be sufficient for the time. I know no one can give me an exact answer just wanted a rough guide. We intend to do some tourist things as well as the reccie part. Kathy:confused:

  16. Hi vickie Thanks r your inspiring post. Can I ask did your husband train oe aged care in oz or in UK. I have heard there is a great demand for that in oz. Was thinking if it was worth fling dome training over here just to add something to my cv and widen my chances. Glad you are enjoying now and everything us settled Kathy
  17. [ Hi Thanks for a real positive response obviously after being there you can make a far more informed decision. Can I be cheeky and ask were your wife works, as taught in Swansea myself for a while Kathy x QUOTE=guspjmh;260689]I'm from Cardiff, and work in Swansea so I know that the quality of life here is pretty good, and the decision to emigrate is a hard one - my wife and I both have good, stable jobs (she is a teacher). Having said that, after visiting Adelaide in March this year on our reccie it would pretty much take a nuclear war to stop me going. I fell in love with it in so many ways - the hills, the vineyards, the beach suburbs. It's just a beautiful place to raise a family in my opinion.
  18. Hi all Everyone is posting excellent comments on this post many thanks. From reading them I am agin positive. We are more than willing to work extra hard to get jobs and make it work. As one comment said are you going to regret it further down the line if you don't take the opportunity. That is the best question because I believe the answer to be yes. Also yes I have a full-time job at the moment but nothings permanent in education with cutbacks all the time. And at the end of the day my daughter is five but what will life be like here in the UK in 13 years time? The research is carrying on and as I said previously if we get visa soon a reccie is on the cards or August. Today is a good positive day but who knows about tomorrow. But that's what makes us human. Please add to this post as all comments are all valuable in their own unique way. Thanks kathy
  19. Hi Anne Thanks for you honest response we hope to go out in August to carry out a work and lifestyle reccie. Hope to learn more first hand. Thanks again Everything is helpful Kathy
  20. Hi Serena Thanks for your heart felt re sponse. Ice to hear the positives on this thread. I will e 40 next year but as said am willing to go on supply as long as my husband s working I am hoping things should be fine. Sorry to hear you are coming back but t least after 5 years you know what you do and don't want. Thanks again kathy x
  21. Hi all Thank you very much for your honest responses. We have a lot o think about now. Stomach churning as i write this. Shall take the advice of contacting agencies etc Many thanks Kathy
  22. Hi all Like many of you I am almost at the end of a long process of gaining a 190 visa. As you know it's the biggest decision a family can make. However, sometimes I can't wait to go, thinking about how our lives will change when we get there. Better opportunities for my daughter and ourselves. The more time spent together as a family .( still aware that we have to work hard). Then on the other hand you start to question yourselves is it the right thing to do? But in saying that I always come back to the same answer YES. What I am noticing now is threads saying that SA is not the ideal place it's made out to be. Jobs are hard to find and there is a kind of recession there. Don't know if thisis people trying to put the rest of us off because so many threads say of positive experiences. Don't get me wrong I know I am not going to land on a Monday and be working on the Tuesday it's just thought I thought opportunities are far better there than here in the UK. I am a primary teacher and more than prepared to go supply first and my husband is a manager in a call centre. Can anyone shed some light on the actual truth. Kathy:confused:
